Splinterlands Battle Mage - Fog of War

Hello Splinterfans!

This week we have the new Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge with the ruleset Fog of War.

Fog of War is a good ruleset in that it hinders many melee attack options and monsters so that most players will then have a higher % chance of using a magic or ranged attack.

With melee sneak, snipe and opportunity monsters being neutralised, you can have some low health monsters near the back of your attack and not worry that they may get picked off so easily.

In today's battle I debuff the ranged attack and have a couple of tricks up my sleeve for the magic attacking opponents too.

On to this week's battle.

My Team

This is a high-mana battle with also holy protection ruleset, plus only odd mana monsters can be used to really mix things up abit.

Summoner/ MonsterReason
Quix the DeviousRanged attack debuff
Legionnaire AlvarMagic shield
Carnage TitanDouble attack
Nerissa TridawnStrong magic attack
Merdaali GuardianHeal & repair abilitiy
River HellondaleResucitate ability
Swamp SpitterRepair ability

My opponents

Summoner/ Monster
Camila Sungazer
Legionnaire Alvar
Flying Squid
Void Dragon
Nerissa Tridawn
The Vigilator
Swamp Spitter

The rules for the battle are:

Holy ProtectionAll units gain the Divine Shield ability which reduces the damage of the first attack received to 0.
Fog of WarAll units lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities.
Odd Ones OutOnly units with odd mana costs may be used.

ROUND 1 & 2 - Legionnaire Alvar vs. Legionnaire Alvar

We face off against each other and both have opted for the powerful Legionnaire Alvar with his huge shield that can protect also against magic attack and slow down your opponent's attack. Although I have an extra ace up my sleeve with River Hellondale that could come in very handy.

My opponent isn't without any surprises himself with the mighty legendary *The Vigilator* hidden within his line up.

With the huge shields, we don't see the first victim until round 2 where my opponent loses his Legionnaire Alvar first. I then lose my Legionnaire Alvar but luckily River Hellondale revives him and with a full shield, this torments my opponent badly!

ROUND 3 - 6

It is not until round 5 that we see the next casualty when the revived Legionnaire Alvar also falls. My opponent is making some good progress now thanks to their strong attack and poison from The Vigilator.

It is not until round 6 when my opponent's Void Dragon finally falls.

ROUND 7 - 10

At round 7, their Nerissa Tridawn falls quickly and it is face-off time with The Vigilator. With his strong melee attack and double strike, he takes care of Carnage Titan in no time.

Luckily though, he is more attack and not so much defense and we manage to take him down in round 8. It is finally all over in round 9 with my opponent's Swamp Spitter being finished off without a fight.

Summary:

With the Fog of War ruleset, the focus usually then moves toward a magic or ranged attack. Being able to counter some of these are essential if you want to win.

Here I combined a strong magic shield monster with 2 shield repair monsters and a resuccitate monster to try and keep Legionnaire Alvar alive as long as possible.

How do you play the Fog of War ruleset?

Thanks for reading.

You had a pretty strong line up. Agor is even stronger though but maybe you didn't have it I don't know. Good job tho using this famous void shield revive armor repair and heal combo which can be super annoying :P by the way play GU its double rewards weekend!

Hi, I like how "River Hellondale" resurrected "Legionnaire Alvar", he only has 1 health and he lasts a lot.👍👍👍
