Splinterbattle: Weekly New Challenge

I think this is a happy change as now you dont have to force yourself to play the assigned weekly monster. In fact, i have to say most of the time, i unable to choose a battle with that assigned monster as the challenge battle. However, with this new changes, you are now assigned with a match rule instead of monster. So as long as we play enough like 20-25 battles per day, you will encounter one such rule for the weekly battle, and hopefully it is a match that i won in it.

So let's have a look at this week battle challenge.

RULESET: AIM TRUE

Description: Melee and ranged attacks will always hit their target.

Strategy 1:

With this aim true ruleset, that means even speed 1 or 2 monsters also can hit their target. So I can even consider to put slow speed but powerful monsters.

So let us have a look at this battle.

Strategy 2: Summoner Choice

Sometime i have to choose between Lux Vega or Quix. It is either i have a armor + 1hp or -1 range to opponent and more choices of monsters. But in this case, Armor actually dont make much of a different as magic ignore armor. As such, Lux Vega even seem less tempting with only a +1hp at the expense of 1 more mana. Meanwhile, 4 of the most important skill for wand out is void armor, void, silence and phrase. With only water and dragon choices, there are no void armor monsters. Also phrase may be useless here cause of the aim true ruleset. So void is very important in this match. Therefore, despite sacrifice 1hp, i use quix with that useless -1range mainly for more choices of monsters.

Lineup:

PositionNameRemark
1stVoid DragonAs the name suggestion, void skill is the key!
2ndOshannusVoid skill + high speed, definitely a must for water wand out
3rdChaos DragonMainly for its scattershot so the damage hopefully can be maximise
4thNerissa TridawnOne of the highest magic damage with gd hp
5thRunemancer KyeLeech, so its can be a super tanker, place last for higher hp
6thDr Blightscavenger so it can also have high hp + poison, all just for 4mana

Strategy 3: Monster Placement

My opponent place all the low hp at the front while i ensure a high hp generally throughout. Even the lower hp like Void Dragon can be tanky due to void skill. And also my dr blight will be a tanker eventually due to scavenger. So in term of hp, we have overwhelming advantage. And as this is a blast ruleset, it is sometime not so advantageous to place lower hp monsters at the front. As you can see later, even before the end of round 1, i manage to take out the 2nd position 1st and force them to use the revive skill very early. In the next picture, you can also see that at the end of round 1, i already have taken out 2 of their monsters while our is only 1. The key is that our lineup has void skill in the 1st and 2nd position which reduce the damage a lot.

Strategy 4: Chaos Dragon bad choice?

One of the key component is that make chaos dragon so powerful is that it has blast. But given that now the ruleset already have blast for all monsters, is it still worth spending 14 mana on chaos dragon. I think one of the scattershot is very important here. I willing to gamble on dealing damage to the backline especially if opponent has Dr Blight hiding in the back where chaos dragon can one hit direct kill before dr blight has the chance to grow. Although it didnt happen here, yet it is very lucky still as it able to deal very painful damage to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th opponent monsters. And that also explain why their team members fell so fast. Just the 1st round, chao dragon deals 8 damage in total whereas even their nerissa only deal like 3 damage.

Strategy 5: Dr Blight Over Eleven Mystic

I actually have a level 4 eleven mystic with the silence skill. So as i mentioned above, silence is a very important rule in wand out. Yet, in this case, I choose Dr Blight over Eleven Mystic. One of the key reason is because of aim true, so even with speed 1, i am not scare of Oshannus high speed with phrase skill. 2nd, poison can create quite a good amt of damage especially on void monsters. As you can see on the above image at the end of round 1. Dr Blight manage to deal 1 damage after void to Oshannus while another 1 damage to Hellondale. What is even more powerful is that poison deal an additional 2 damage to Oshannus. So in total, it deal 3 damage to Oshannus which is actually the same amount as a 5 magic damage Nerissa Tridawn after void reduction.

battle03.png
At the start of round 3, you can clearly see who is the winner in this case. Also you can see that my Dr blight has grown to quite a scary monster with 13 hp! Another note: once i can get my poison on their Tridawn, you will realise that my dr blight is actually dealing the same amount of damage as tridawn per round. Insane idea given that dr blight is only 4 mana while tridawn is 9 mana.
