How it started

My name is Elaine, but my friends call me Nane. I'm Brazilian and started playing Splinterlands about two months ago. I discovered the game when I started researching and studying about crypto. I was quite surprised when I learned that there were games that would pay you to play. 😮

I started to watch a bunch of videos about these games, to learn how to play them and the investment necessary to start playing. Most of them were impossible for me to enter because, well, living in a third world country where the currency is worth nothing. Anyway, I kept searching and found out about Splinterlands which had a very reasonable entry price.

Now the problem was I had never played this type of game in my entire life, so I needed to find out if I would be able to play it before making the investment. More hours watching videos - a huge thanks to Bulldog whose videos made my life a lot easier. He has a fantastic beginners guide that explains various aspects of the game. Feeling a bit more confident, I started playing the free version of the game to test all this new knowledge and got addicted right away.

How it is going

So I'm playing the game and still watching videos to keep learning about it. It was then that I found out about Twitch. Now that is a whole new world I'm discovering. I never cared much about watching live streams of games. Couldn't understand how people would spend time watching other people playing games.

Well, the Splinterlands streams are a whole different vibe. I have never seen such strong sense of community around a game before in my life. Each streamer has their own style and personality but every single of one them makes you feel welcome and part of the community. Lately with everything that is going on and life in general, the levels of stress are quite high. So whenever I'm feeling out of sorts, I open Twitch and see if there is anyone streaming to distract myself and improve the mood. A huge kudos to the #NoSleepGang that is making sure that there is someone streaming at almost every time of the day.

The streams are not only entertaining, but also incredibly insightful. I've learned something in each one of them.
A big shout out to Bulldog , Clove, Drabs, Skynotik, Sunny, Solymi, Untamed Sarge who are amazing hosts and always make everyone feel welcome in their streams.
