Who is clove71 to me?

I vividly remember, around the same time last year, I was looking for a way to earn while lockdowns were implemented in our country. I stumbled upon the Youtube channel of @clove71. It was refreshing as I saw how she genuinely enjoys the game Splinterlands. She talks, she thinks, she laughs, and she even screams especially when her monster misses. She was not pushing the game to her viewers, but she effectively got me into exploring more of the game.

Fast forward to a few months, I felt I have enough experience in the game. Luckily, a few spots opened up in her Immortal Gods guild. I asked if I can join, and she accepted me. The whole team was welcoming. I have yet to meet them in person but I think all of them are fun to be with.

Apart from the accommodation and hospitality, what I remember most of clove71 is her generosity. Did you know that at least twice a week, she hosts tournaments with an entry fee of 1 DEC, but the winnings can go up to a number DEC, CLPs, vouchers, SPS? What is more fun is, she structured the prizes such that a lucky participant can still feel like he/she is the champ even when he/she got eliminated? She gives out amazing prizes for the 30th or 40th place of the tourneys.

But my personal experience was even more amazing. One of her gold league tourneys that I participated in fell on a Saturday morning in our time zone. When the tourney started, my one-year-old daughter unfortunately woke up, which was earlier than usual. She was just playing around our room, but I still had to keep an eye on her. The first round was a do-or-die. I cannot remember exactly the situation but I was confident I would win it. Some participants only brought level 1 cards, so my cards outmatched theirs. Things would heat up later, as those who advanced had more competitive cards. Luckily, I was able to get into the finals. It was best of three. The first game was a high mana situation. I chose Yodin, but my opponent was able to counter using Quix, Robo-Dragon Knight, and Carnage Titan. The second game was do-or-die for me. I got the win using Water's magic lineup, if I am not mistaken. The deciding game three was a high mana match, and Yodin is open but I know my opponent can counter it. I was about to rent a few more fire monsters like Magnor and Elemental Phoenix to adjust to my opponent, but alas, my daughter pooped and I had to wash her asap to avoid any infection (i.e., UTI). So, my Yodin lineup lost again, leaving me to place second.

At that point, I did not feel sad. I was actually ecstatic to finish second! I still won a few DEC for my initial entry fee of 1 DEC. Then, after a few moments, I saw in my screen that clove71 sent me 3,000 DEC. Honestly, I initially thought she might have mistakenly sent it to me. So, I sent her a PM via Discord. She then replied that it is really for me. After a few seconds, a CLP came, a few SPS came, etc. I was stunned! I could not thank her enough. I felt like I was the champ! I shared some of the winnings to my friends who play Splinterlands.

Despite the bear market and in-game adjustments, clove71 has continuously supported players to further enjoy the game. I hope that when I get enough assets, I can at least be half as generous as she is so that I can inspire other players.
