Today I went back to coloring one of my drawings that I made during Zingtober some time ago. These are among my first drawings in the community, and I hold them in high regard. Back then I made all 31 drawings traditionally with pen and paper, and I got results that I really liked, shading using hatching. But now I want to make more colorful drawings. So I will import my old drawings into Ibis Paint and color them with nice, cheerful colors. Today it was the turn to color the drawing from day 25, which had the prompt 'Trunk'. For this I drew Zappity resting while sitting on top of an old tree trunk.
Hoy volví a colorear uno de mis dibujos que realicé durante el Zingtober hace ya un tiempo. Estos son de mis primeros dibujos en la comunidad y les tengo mucho aprecio. Para aquel entonces realicé los 31 dibujos de forma tradicional con bolígrafo y papel, y obtuve resultados que me gustaron mucho, sombreados utilizando hatching. Pero ahora quiero hacer dibujos más coloridos. Así que importaré mis dibujos antiguos a Ibis Paint y los colorearé con colores bonitos y alegres. Hoy fue el turno de colorear el dibujo del día 25, que el prompt era 'Trunk'. Para esto dibujé a Zappity descansando sentado encima del viejo tronco de un árbol.
The first step will be to import my drawing. So, taking a photo of the paper sheet, I bring it into Ibis Paint where I adjust the colors, lights, and shadows to obtain only the black lines, eliminating the paper texture. I try to make the lines as clean as possible, although later I can adjust details that are not quite right with the eraser and brush.
El primer paso será importar mi dibujo. Así que, tomando una foto de la hoja de papel, lo llevo a Ibis Paint donde ajusto los colores, luces y sombras para obtener solamente las líneas negras eliminando la textura del papel. Trato de que las líneas queden lo más limpias posible, aunque después podré ajustar con la goma y el pincel los detalles que no estén del todo bien.
I will also erase with the eraser all the hatching I did for shading since I don't need it, and by using color I can do it with different layers of light and dark colors to get a more polished result.
También eliminaré con la goma todo el hatching que realicé para el sombreado, ya que no lo necesito, y al estar usando color podré hacerlo con distintas capas de colores claros y oscuros para obtener un resultado más pulido.
To color, I will start with the trunk. I almost always begin coloring with the characters, but today I feel like starting with the trunk because I really enjoy drawing wood and the ring textures on surfaces. I will be using a lighter color for the inside of the trunk.
Para colorear comenzaré por el tronco. Casi siempre comienzo a colorear por los personajes, pero hoy me apetece empezar por el tronco, ya que me gusta mucho dibujar madera y las texturas de anillo de las superficies. Estaré usando un color más claro para el interior del tronco.
I will also color the grass green and make small weeds with little lines as if it were a simple texture; I will alternate them between light and dark colors.
También colorearé el pasto de verde y haré pequeños hierbajos con rallitas pequeñas como si fuese una textura simple, los alternaré entre colores claros y colores oscuros.
Done with all the coloring, the only thing left is the background, which will be a flat blue with large concentric white clouds focusing on the character, and Zappity himself, who will be that characteristic electric orange. I will also make some adjustments in areas that had imperfections from the ink. This is the final result, and I hope you like it as much as I do.
Listo con todo coloreado, solo queda el fondo que será azul plano con grandes nubes blancas concéntricas enfocando al personaje, y el propio Zappity que será de ese naranja electrizante característico. Además haré algunos ajustes en algunas zonas que quedaron con imperfecciones de la tinta. Este es el resultado final y espero que les guste tanto como a mí.
