Today I will be drawing a Splinterlands character: the Haunted Spider card, which represents a poisonous spider, very characteristic for its type of attack. In addition, I will be using colored pencils and my old sketchbook that got damaged, because you know how important it is for me to make the most of materials, even if the results aren’t perfectly polished. This is a special entry because it belongs to @artofkylin’s challenge, where we will be drawing 28 different bugs. I will be participating with both traditional and digital drawings throughout the month, sharing my progress with you. I hope you enjoy today’s drawing; honestly, it turned out quite well, even though the worn pages are noticeable.

Hoy estaré dibujando un personaje de Splinterlands: se trata de la carta Haunted Spider, que representa una araña venenosa, muy característica por su tipo de ataque. Además, estaré usando para colorear lápices de colores y el viejo sketchbook que se estropeó, porque saben lo importante que es para mí aprovechar los materiales, aunque no queden resultados pulidos. Esta es una entrada especial porque pertenece al reto de @artofkylin, donde estaremos dibujando 28 bichos distintos. Yo estaré participando con dibujos tanto en tradicional como en digital a lo largo del mes, compartiendo mi progreso con ustedes. Espero que les guste el dibujo de hoy; la verdad quedó bastante bien, aunque se nota un poco lo maltratado de las hojas.

As you can see, I started by sketching. The page is quite damaged since this sketchbook has suffered several accidents with liquids, but we will do our best so that our drawing of Haunted Spider turns out well.

Como ven, empecé planteando mi boceto. La hoja está muy maltratada ya que este cuaderno ha sufrido varios accidentes con líquidos, pero haremos nuestro mejor esfuerzo para que quede bien nuestro dibujo de Haunted Spider.

I made a very fine line art with a pen, emphasizing only some details and sections in the darker areas of the drawing.

Hice un line art con lapicera muy fino, remarcando solo algunos detalles y secciones en las zonas más oscuras del dibujo.

Then I started adding color, and honestly the sketchbook material made it quite complicated. The paper is getting thinner and more worn out, and it doesn’t pigment well—especially because I had already drawn on the opposite side of the page. So it required extra effort, but little by little I have my spider colored, and now comes the most difficult part: the background.

Seguido comencé a dar color y, la verdad, se me complicó mucho el material del cuaderno. Cada vez está más delgado y desgastado y no pigmenta bien, sobre todo porque ya había dibujado en el contrario de la hoja. Así que fue esfuerzo extra, pero poco a poco tengo mi araña coloreada, y ahora viene lo más difícil: el fondo.
