Eight Moons In: Exploring What Comes Next for My Content Creation

After reflecting on nearly eight years on the HIVE blockchain, I realized that the harder question isn’t what I’ve done, but what I want to do next. Content creation has been part of my life long enough that walking away entirely doesn’t feel realistic—but continuing exactly as I have doesn’t feel right either.

So instead of making a dramatic decision, I’ve been thinking through the possible paths forward.

Path One: Stay, But Narrow the Focus

One option is to remain on HIVE, but with far more intention. Over time, I’ve spread my writing across many communities and topics. While that kept things interesting, it also diluted the enjoyment.

If I continue, it would likely be centered around the communities I still genuinely enjoy and participate in:

  • @splinterlands, which remains my strongest connection to the ecosystem
  • @actifit, where accountability and habit still provide real value

This path is about quality over quantity—posting less, but with purpose. Writing only when I have something meaningful to say, rather than to satisfy consistency metrics or algorithms.

Path Two: Detach Rewards From Motivation

Another option is a mental shift rather than a structural one:

decoupling rewards from motivation.

In the early days, rewards were exciting. Over time, they became expected. And eventually, they became a measuring stick—sometimes unfairly applied to the effort put in.

If I continue creating content, I may need to treat rewards as a byproduct, not a goal. Writing because it sharpens my thinking, helps me document decisions, or simply clears my head—regardless of the outcome.

Ironically, that mindset might bring more satisfaction than chasing engagement or value extraction ever did.

Path Three: Create, But Export the Habit Elsewhere

This is the path I think about the most.

Content creation itself isn’t the problem—it’s the container. Writing has become a habit, almost like training or tracking nutrition. It’s how I process ideas around fitness, investing, gaming, and life transitions.

There’s a real possibility that I:

  • Continue writing regularly
  • But distribute it across different platforms
  • Or keep it primarily personal, public only when it feels right

This doesn’t mean abandoning HIVE entirely—but it does mean not feeling obligated to it as my primary outlet.

Path Four: Take a True Break

The most uncomfortable option is also the most honest one:

step back completely for a while.

Not powering down more.

Not making announcements.

Just… pausing.

No posting schedule.

No metrics.

No pressure.

If content creation has started to feel like a chore, then rest—not reinvention—might be the answer. And if the urge to write returns naturally, that’s a signal worth listening to.

What I Know for Sure

What I do know is this:

  • I can’t imagine a future where I never write again
  • I don’t want habit to turn into obligation
  • And I want my time and energy to feel aligned with where I’m headed next

Eight years is a long time to do anything consistently. It deserves respect—but not blind loyalty.

So for now, I’m not choosing a single path. I’m allowing myself the space to explore, adjust, and evolve—just like I have over the last eight moons.

Whatever comes next, I want it to feel intentional, not automatic.

And that feels like the right place to start.
