Splinterlands: 100 Packs of Gladius

Gladiators are meant to be the most powerful cards in the game so when the team added a new rule set to ranked play and new Summoners that allows us to play them, the grind to accumulate more has started to grow. For me, this has also coincided with my Guild reaching higher Tier levels in addition to leveling up key building which have started to provide more merits at the end of each Brawl. This, in addition to merits also being found in focus and Season chests, has allow me to accumulate my largest stack of Gladius packs so far.

My previous large stack was only half the size and it got me to get my Gladiator collection to be around Silver League which is where the Guilds limits were at the moment. My target with this latest stack is for me to start seeing some cards at Gold League which would bring more benefits for me in ranked and tournament play rather than Brawls as the Guild is still somewhat limited. Having the Bloodlust ability at our disposal for high level battles could be a key factor in winning or losing given the competition seen at the moment in most battles.

For this stack, I had an important decision to make around whether to burn DEC for stones or not. DEC continues to become more difficult to accumulate and it has had me saving for future additions to the Collection as well as the large needs that will be likely with the upcoming release of Land 1.5. However, since we have seen the power of better chances, I could not avoid purchasing enough stones for both sides of the chances; legendaries and gold. Legendary Gladiators have been rough to the come by so that was a must. Gold Foils are always great considering the flexibility they have in addition to their benefits on land in the future.

After getting my Guild discount to the max towards the end of a Season, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased all the stones needed to open my 100 packs. It is tough to tell whether the opening was great but I was happy with what I got for a number of reasons. First, I got enough Quoras to combine to the next level. That is always the first indication of success. Second, I got another Gold Foil Legendary. I hope to use it on my land soon. Lastly, I saw that I have begun to get some of my Common and Rare Gladiators closer to Gold League level.

The increased utility of Gladiators in addition to the better access has brought a new way to add to our Collections. Collecting has always been the fun part of being in the ecosystem so I am welcoming the amount of merits I am receiving to open more packs. While I try to hesitate to use my DEC, it is clearly a benefit for my Gladius packs and for the ecosystem given its oversupply these days. Every time I think about how the ecosystem has evolved, I am impressed with it more and encouraged with its future.
