Splinterlands Bot Experiment: Unveiling the Realities of Asset Growth

Over the past year, I embarked on an intriguing experiment within the Splinterlands ecosystem, aiming to witness how a bot token, housed in a Bronze level account with a modest delegation of low-level BCX cards, would evolve over time. The journey, though filled with anticipation, has unfolded with mixed results that prompt a closer examination of the dynamics at play.

In an attempt to diversify and expand the alternatives available for the bot, I diligently upgraded most of the new Soulbound reward cards to Silver level. This strategic move aimed to enrich the choices beyond the initial single BCX cards that were delegated. However, despite these efforts, the outcomes have not met the initial expectations.

The current state of the account, housing about 142 SPS (Splinterlands Governance Token), paints a less-than-impressive financial picture. The accumulated value falls short of $5, prompting a critical evaluation of the experiment's return on investment. The cost associated with running a bot for a single account seems disproportionate to the returns garnered.

Acknowledging that my setup might not be optimized for maximizing wins, I also explored the avenue of delegating a significant amount of SPS. Surprisingly, the impact on the overall performance appeared minimal, adding an additional layer of complexity to the evaluation. This observation raises questions about the effectiveness of bots in the current Splinterlands landscape.

Contrary to popular belief, bots may not be the primary culprit behind certain challenges within the ecosystem. Instead, the measures taken against them could be contributing to a demand drought of assets. The delicate balance between curbing unwanted activities and maintaining a healthy demand for in-game assets is a puzzle that requires careful consideration.

As the experiment unfolds, it serves as a valuable case study, offering insights into the intricate dynamics of token growth and the broader implications of measures taken to ensure fair play. The Splinterlands community, as it navigates these complexities, is poised to learn and adapt, ushering in a new era of sustainable growth and engagement.

In sharing this journey, my aim is to contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding the evolution of blockchain-based gaming ecosystems and the role of automation within them.
