Splinterlands: My Whitelist Runi!

It was definitely a ride for my emotions but I finally got to mint my first NFT ever thanks to Splinterlands and its development of Runi. I was a bit salty at first as I had issues with getting a Whitelist spot because of some wallet issues. Given how quickly the spots went, I was unable to secure any given the glitch the day of the Whitelist presale. However, I did request via support for an opportunity to get one. It took a couple of weeks and some exchanges but the Support team was able to get me a Whitelist spot for the all important day.

I still think that the process was a little underwhelming for those of us with long term commitments to the ecosystem as I saw many getting multiple Whitelist spots just to flip them and not really support the long term nature of the project. While I participated early and got my mint in, I would have really like for us to have other ways to have a competitive way to get more at good prices for our use. However, I was not disappointed with my Runi!

I really liked the fact that I got a pretty unique head relative to many that I have seen. I also think its relation to the Ape side of things with NFTs could be valuable in the future. While the background is very Common, I did like that I also got an Epic rarity weapon. In all, this will likely be the Runi I use for battle unless I am able to get something better off the market or come to sacrifices with future combinations that could be possible.

The minting process was very seamless and it quickly reminded me of the excitement I got when opening my first Alpha packs years ago. Having survived the blind bag fever of my nieces and nephews, I knew that this could be a slippery slope but could not imagine how exciting it was going to be which is dangerous. However, I continue to believe that this could be something very unique for not only the Splinterlands ecosystem but also the Runi itself in the Ethereum ecosystem. I continue to think the development team are geniuses although it takes time for things to play out so here is how I HODL!
