Splinterlands: Witnessing the Community

If anything has been learned over the last couple of years around the financial world, it is that community can drive more value and has the potential to build an economy around themselves if they engage and grow over time. I continue to see the evolution of a number of Blockchain projects in many areas like NFTs, DeFi, and others and the economic value generated by the projects are almost directly correlated with community engagement.

Splinterlands is no different and the almost four years I have engaged with the community, I continually see how and why it has been a success in creating value. The one experience I continue to see occur within the community is in its ability to help each other. I have seen how the community came together after the death of a beloved player in the community which was known for onboarding new users. In addition to a tournament in his name, others helped the family understand the value he had in ecosystem which would have likely been difficult if otherwise.

Recently, we also experienced an early player looking to liquidate as personal issues came up and the family needed the funds urgently. It was amazing to see the community engage to find ways to not only help him accomplish his goal but also find alternatives to get more value out of it. In the end, they wanted him to find ways to remain in the community considering the engagement he had had in the past in the community.

These example continue to happen each day within the Splinterlands community. Discord is the main source of engagement and it is truly impressive to see how it has grown and develop. In fact, I have seen how community members were the original help desk and support of the community. Some have even engaged with the official team and now lead major departments for the Company. I have witness how the Splinterlands community has grown into something much more that so many other projects continually seek. This is why the long term is exciting for Splinterlands!
