The Luckiest Pull of My Splinterlands Journey
Out of a land harvest, no less, I pulled a Black Foil Toiling Ox.
Even as I write that, it still feels a bit surreal.
Patience Tested… Then Rewarded
The release of land cards has clearly been a success for the ecosystem and the economy. They sold out quickly, and market prices have continued to rise since the minting phase ended—clear signs that demand is strong and confidence is there.
That said, my personal experience started off a bit frustrating.
For the entire first month of land card drops, I didn’t receive a single one from my harvests. Given that I hold what I consider a top-tier land collection, it was hard not to feel a bit impatient. When you’ve invested heavily and optimized your setup, expectations naturally creep in.
But as it turns out… the wait was absolutely worth it.
Hitting the Jackpot: Black Foil Toiling Ox
Pulling a Black Foil is already rare. Pulling one from a land harvest feels like hitting a true jackpot. And what makes it even better is that Black Foils are already maxed.
That means:
- No combining
- No additional resource cost
- Immediate, full utility
From a land perspective, this is huge.
Immediate and Long-Term Benefits
The Toiling Ox is already a strong land card, but in Black Foil form it becomes something special. It will immediately:
- Improve overall land production efficiency
- Strengthen my land setup without trade-offs
- Add the Laborer’s Luck ability, increasing future chances of land card drops
That last point is the real compounding effect. Not only is this an incredible pull today, but it also improves my odds going forward, reinforcing my long-term land-focused strategy.
A Validation of the Land Bet
Moments like this are validating.
Land has been my primary focus in Splinterlands for a long time—sometimes to the point where it felt uncomfortable or overly concentrated. Between resource constraints, shifting mechanics, and ongoing investments, it hasn’t always been an easy path.
Pulling a Black Foil land card from a harvest feels like one of those rare moments where the game taps you on the shoulder and says: “Yes, this is working.”
This pull has me even more excited about what land can become as the system continues to evolve. If this is any indication of how things can compound over time, then staying the course feels like the right decision.
For now, I’ll enjoy the win, slot the Ox into my land, and keep harvesting.
Because if this is what patience can lead to… I’m very curious to see what’s next.

Congrats on the big hit! I had no idea you were more focused on land than ranked, but I guess that makes a lot of sense for older accounts who were around for the cheap land sale. It also helps having the older cards that fell behind the power curve in Wild, but are making outsized returns on land.
Looking at your harvest though, I'm quite curious that you still have your magic plots producing research and haven't switched any over to Aura plots.
