Buying my first Conclave Arena packs.
I'm personally very resistant to change and in terms of splinterlands have been fully focused on maxing out my older editions and turning some of them to gold cards as I've written about in the past few weeks.
That is still the long term goal and the cards that I like best in the whole game from the precious Beta gold versions.
But I'm not a millionaire and also to be competitive in the game you do need to keep up with the newer cards as some of them are so much more powerful than the older editions.
I don't love the newer sets but I wouldn't say no to a shiny black foil version as they look great.
This was more out of curiosity than anything since four packs won't max out anything but it's been so long since I've bought a new pack and opened it that I just wanted that little rush as the cards turn over.
So I splurged on four shiny new Conclave Arena packs in the hope of hitting something big and juicy.
First I picked up a few midnight potions for the best odds of a big pull. Then went to the mana well for the reveal.
Here we go.
Pack 1:
Always good to get a summoner in the pack. I don't have any modern ones at the moment except for the foundations set so they will be handy.

Pack 2:
Nothing special in this one.

Pack 3:
Nothing great in this one either.

Pack 4:
A poor return from my few packs.

I picked up a few cheap chaos packs as well this week and ripped fifty of those with a great return on gold cards and some epic and legendary as well. I do love the satisfaction of opening packs even if it isn't cost effective. I would have been much better off buying two maxed out cards for the same price, but where is the fun in that.
Part of the game is the chase. Opening up packs, chasing the best cards in the game, making those big pulls that keep it exciting and give you a return on your money.
Opening four packs is probably just a waste of money but it is fun. The right job would be to buy a few hundred packs and open them all together to have the best chance of hitting those big cards.
I did enjoy the little bit of fun today but I'll probably just go back to playing matches and buying up the older gen one bit at a time. It's where I find the most fun. I do have some mage wagons as well but haven't used them since the first round of airdrops so i probably won't start now just sell what i have here ad wait for prices to drop to buy up a full collection.
Try for yourself.
If you haven't played the game before then now is the best time to join. Today is much better than tomorrow and a lot better than later.
While other web3 games are failing on all sides, Splinterlands has been here for seven years and going strong.
