THE LORE

Nerissa is a proud warrior of the water. Armed with her enchanted trident, she defends the seas, the rivers, and the lakes. She is well known across coastal villages, and they often call on her for help. She has slain great sea beasts that would otherwise kill everyone in their path. She has rescued sailors from hurricanes and even warned villages of incoming tsunamis to save lives. Her bravery and brilliance in battle have led to her being called Nerissa the Hurricane.

Nerissa was born and raised by the ocean and could swim before she could walk. She always felt the sea called to her. And within her, it stirred deep magic. Ancient mana of tides and waves. Nerissa answered the call, and travels between the continents of the Splinterlands.

When settlers and explorers made their way to Praetoria, Nerissa was there to help with every step of the journey. But the blight that gripped the land worried her deeply. Its corruption spread into the waters that she loved so dearly. She often caught herself crossing paths with Igor the Finback and his tribe of Trench Dwellers. Each time she had to pull back or risk all of them attacking her at once.

When Nerissa learned of the deeper plot of the Chaos Legion, she vowed to defend Praetoria and its inhabitants with her life.
A wave carried Nerissa quickly to the shore. A small village awaited her, bordered by the jungle and currently drenched in the raging thunderstorm.

A worker on the dock held up his lantern, squinting. Then he gasped. “Nerissa the Hurricane!”

Nerissa's bare feet made contact with the gritty sand. She strode quickly towards him. “We must gather everyone in the village! A great wave is coming. I will lead the people to safety on higher ground.”

“Yes, ma'am!” he turned and rushed off towards the homes.

Nerissa turned to look out at the angry ocean. The wild wind whipped her hair back from her face. No one would die tonight. Not on her watch.

THE OPPONENT'S LINE UP

image.png
My opponent used Kelya Frendul as his summoner. It adds 1 speed and 1 armor to its team. His tank is the same as mine, Legionnaire Alvar. Level 1 of this card has only one ability, the void armor. Second in line is a monster with reach and blind ability, Flying Squid. Next is a rare neutral monster, Gargoya Devil with a ranged attack. My enemy also used Nerissa Tridawn positioned in the fourth row. 5th row is the resurrector, River Helondale, a magic attack monster that also gives 1 additional melee attack to its teammates. Last in line is Sandworm, a monster with a melee attack and a sneak ability. It targets the last monster on the enemy team instead of the first monster.

MY LINE UP

image.png

Summoner : QUIX THE DEVIOUS
A legendary dragon unit summoner from the chaos edition with 4 mana. It reduces 1 range damage and 1 speed to its opponents. I used level 2 of this card in this battle.

image.png

1st Row : LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR
My tank from the neutral unit is a legendary monster with 9 mana. I used level 2 in this battle. It has the void armor ability. Magic attacks hit this monster's armor before its health. It does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana because of its giant killer ability. It has also a high number of hp and armor and a melee damage attack of 3.

image.png

2nd Row : CARNAGE TITAN
An 11-mana legendary dragon monster from the chaos edition. At level 2, it has the reach ability. Melee attack Monsters with the reach ability may attack from the second position on the team. This monster also attacks twice each round because of its double-strike ability.

image.png

3rd Row : VOID DRAGON
A legendary monster with a magic attack, flying, and void ability. It reduces damage from magic attacks and has an increased chance of evading melee or ranged attacks from monsters who do not have the flying ability.

image.png

4th Row : RIVER HELONDALE
Another legendary monster from the water unit with 7 mana and magic attack. Iat has the ability to resurrect or bring back to life a monster with 1 Health. This ability can only trigger once per battle. It also gives all friendly monsters +1 melee attack due to its Inspire ability.

image.png

5th Row : VENARI WAVESMITH
A rare water unit monster from the reward edition with 5 mana. Its attack is also magic. At level 1, it has the ability called to protect. All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor.

image.png

6th Row : NERISSA TRIDAWN
The featured card for this battle, Nerissa Tridawn. An epic card from the water unit with a magic attack. At level 3, it has 3 magic damage, 3 speed and 10 hp.

DID MY STRATEGY WORK IN THIS BATTLE?

Yes, my strategy in this battle really worked well. Since the battle requires 99 mana, I pick monsters with high mana, high hp, a high number of shields, and with different abilities. I used Quix as my summoner which reduces the range damage and speed of the enemy. Even if Legionnaire Alvar left the game on the second round, carnage titan was there and served as a tank with its double-strike ability. Magic attack monsters did great in this battle because they directly damage the enemy's hp. Nerissa tridawn killed the tank of the enemy, legionnaire alvar. It also killed gargoya devil by its magic attack. But sandworm, with its sneak ability, killed the last row monster, Nerissa Tridawn, with a melee attack. After all, void Dragon, River Helondale, and Venari Wavesmith, continued to defend my team and won the battle.

WHAT WILL I TRY DIFFERENTLY NEXTIME?

Nextime, I will try to add monsters with ranged attack or monsters with sneak ability to attack the last monster on the enemy's team. Nerissa Tridawn left the game early because it was positioned in the last row and the opponent used a monster with sneak ability which targets the last monster of its enemy.
