Hi guys! Welcome to another series of Splinterlands Battle Mage Weekly Challenge. For this week the rule that we'll be going to talk about is called "BACK TO BASICS". Sounds exciting since in this rule, monsters will lose all their abilities. Let's see what would be a good strategy for this rule.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE RULESET

The battle rule requires 40 mana and all elements are active. It is a combination of the Back to Basics and Weak Magic rule.

BACK TO BASICS

In this rule, monsters will lose all their abilities. Monsters in the back row are safe to sneak, snipe, and opportunity attacks from the enemy. Magic and Ranged attacks are good to use in this rule because melee attacks lose their ability to hit outside of the first position.

WEAK MAGIC

Magic attacks hit Armor before reducing Health. Protect, Repair, Rust are useful in this ruleset. Beware the opponent could choose only Melee and Ranged monsters, so keep a tank with Shield.

WHAT'S ABOUT MY LINE UP

For this battle, I decided to use a summoner that gives additional ranged attack damage, General Sloan. My tank is Chaos Knight with a melee attack, it has an armor of 3 and health of 5. Next in line is another melee attack monster having an armor of 4 and an hp of 9. I decided to fill the first 2 positions of monsters with armor to protect the team from melee attack monsters of the enemy in their first line. The majority of the monsters in my lineup positioned on the third, fourth, and last row are ranged attack monsters. I also add one magic attack monster, time mage.

My key strategies in this battle are:

Choosing a summoner that can add magic or ranged attack damage. Why? Because melee attack monsters lose their abilities to attack from any position except in front. Since one of the rules is back to basics, back-row monsters are safe from the enemy's Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks. Magic and ranged attack monsters are good choices in this battle as they can attack from any position. Another good strategy in this rule is to arrange the monsters in ascending order of hp.

Overall, my strategy in this rule worked well.

Thank you for reading! Have a nice day!
