THE LORE

The Chaos Legionnaires are ruthless warriors and the Chaos Legion's elite fighting force. Alvar Veralyn was conscripted into their ranks at a young age after his family was slain and his world conquered by the Chaos Legion. The harsh conditioning that all conscripts receive nearly broke the child, but in the end, his old, easy way of life was subsumed by the desire for battle and conquest. Alvar dedicated himself to his training, intent on reshaping his mind and his body until he had no equal on the battlefield. Eventually, he rose to the rank of General and now stands as leader of the Chaos Legionnaires.
Alvar is a most imposing sight on the battlefield. His armor is imbued to withstand the strongest of magical attacks, and even the mightiest of foes is no match for his massive, two-handed sword, which some say was forged in the Realm of Nightmare. He lives for battle, wading through his enemies and striking them down as he seeks out the strongest among them to engage in single combat. He enjoys nothing more than watching the life fade from his opponent's eyes. His conquests are legendary even among the Legionnaires, and he earned the title of Godkiller after the Battle of Dargnilat, during which he single-handedly defeated one of the Old Gods.
“Do you wish to serve?”
Alvar Veralyn glared at the two prisoners kneeling before him, a dwarf and an elf. His plate armor gleamed beneath the harsh glare of the sun, and his massive sword ran red with blood. His Chaos Legionnaires stood in a rough circle around their general and the prisoners. The corpses of the fallen littered the plains of the battlefield.
The dwarf raised her chin defiantly. “No, I would rather—”
Alvar swung his sword. The dwarf's head hit the dirt, and the elf let out a little shriek as the lifeless body fell forward with a thump.
Alvar turned to the elf. “Do you wish to serve?”
“Yes.” the elf said at once, then louder, “Yes!”
Alvar gave a nod, and his Chaos Legionnaires grabbed the elf by the arms, hauled him to his feet, and led him away to begin his conditioning and his training.

MY OPPONENT'S LINE UP

image.png
The opponent used the death element in this battle. Thaddius Brood was the summoner that reduces 1 magic damage and 1 hp to the enemy monsters. Cursed Windeku was chosen as the tank, it has the thorn and healing ability. The second line is Harklaw, it was a good choice since this monster is immune to negative status effects like poison. It has also a shield that reduces damage from melee and ranged attacks from the enemy. 3rd in line is Disintegrator with trample and demoralize ability. This monster has a melee attack. Silent Sha-vi is positioned on the 4th row, another melee attack monster with sneak and cripple abilities. Monsters with sneak ability target the last Monster on the enemy Team instead of the first Monster and each time an enemy is hit by a Monster with Cripple it loses one max health. Next is Gargoya Devil, a ranged attack monster with flying, close range, and deathblow ability. Last in line is a no-attack monster, Riftwing. Even though this monster has no attack, it has the ability to evade Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability. It also gains 1 max health each time any monster dies because of its scavenge ability.

BATTLE REVIEW

Djinn Oshannus was the first to attack followed by the other monsters with magic attacks. Cursed Windeku, the enemy's tank was their target, luckily, this card managed to restore its health due to its healing ability. Legionnaire Alvar lost its armor on the first round because of a ranged attack from Gargoya Devil and thorns by cursed windeku. Cursed Windeku was eliminated from the game in the second round by an attack from Nerissa and Angelic Mandarin. Harklaw targets Legionnaire Alvar until its hp was down to one. It was then hit and killed by poison but resurrected back to life by river helondale with 1hp and 8 armor. Legionnaire Alvar's second life was his opportunity to make revenge. The battle continued to fire up til the last round, only Riftwing was left in the opponent's team. Legionnaire Alvar ended the game with an attack that killed the last monster in the enemy.

DID MY STRATEGY WORK IN THIS BATTLE?

Yes, my strategy worked in this battle. Possibilus the wise is an excellent summoner since it grants extra health to each monster on its squad. Because there is a poison rule in this combat, having a high HP definitely helps. Legionnaire Alvar also played a crucial part in this combat. It functioned as a powerful tank. River Helondale was also of great assistance, especially after Alvar was slain. Since the team's tank was brought back into the game, River Helondale's resurrection ability played a significant part in the battle. Overall, it was a good fight for my team.

WHAT WILL I TRY DIFFERENTLY NEXT TIME?

Next time, I will try to use a tank heal which restores a portion of the monster's health in the first position each round. In this game, since there is no tank heal, Legionnaire Alvar was easily killed, but luckily, it was resurrected by River Helondale.
