Welcome to my entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest Week 257!

When I saw Baakijira and his story, it suddenly took me to those zenithal view images of a fisherman being visited by a huge sea friend! or something like that. These illustrations are popular because they are always in a calm or terrifying tone, very interesting to appreciate, and I'm motivated to try one and give it my own touch!

Cuando vi a Baakijira y su historia, de una vez me llevo a esas imágenes en vista cenital sobre un pescador que esta siendo visitado por un enorme amigo del mar! o algo por el estilo. estas ilustraciones son populares porque siempre son entono de calma o terror, muy interesante de apreciar!, y motivo a intentar una y darle mi propio toque!

Seeing the original reference, Baakjira is inspired by a blue whale, and to make my illustration I looked for images of these to guide me, although in the end I gave it my own structure served a lot, as I got even 3D models, and the images I got on Pinterest are also quite inspiring!

Viendo la referencia original, Baakjira esta inspirada en una ballena azul, y para hacer mi ilustración busque imágenes de estas para guiarme, aunque al final le di mi propia estructura sirvieron mucho, ya que conseguí hasta modelos 3D, y las imágenes que conseguí en Pinterest también son bastante inspiradoras!

Progress:

For the composition I decided to use these guide lines that would help me to create a direction and dynamism in the image, in the diagonal I placed the elements of interest and the triangle I will use it for the illumination.

Para la composición decidí usar estas líneas guías que me ayudarían a crear una dirección y dinamismo en la imagen, en la diagonal coloque los elementos de interés y el triangulo lo usare para la iluminación

Progress 2:

In the coloring I used watercolor brushes to give texture to the whole illustration and I think it gives that rough touch to the skin.

En el coloreado use pinceles de acuarela para darle textura a toda la ilustración y me parece que le da ese toque áspero a la piel

Progress 3:

For the water waves, it took me a long time to decide how to do them, I didn't want them to get in the way, and I didn't know how many to do, so after a while, I liked how they turned out!

Para las ondas del agua, tarde mucho en decidirme como hacerlas, no quería que estorbaran, y no sabia que tantas hacer así que después de un rato, me gustaron como quedaron!

Final

At the end I reinforced the color and you will notice that the ship is like in impressionist mode, I thought that as it would look so small, making a lot of details would be unnecessary, since I want you to focus on seeing Baakjira and appreciate the image as a whole <3

Al final le reforcé el color y observaras que el barco esta como en modo impresionista, pensé que como se vería tan pequeño, hacerle muchos detalles seria innecesario, ya que quiero es que se centren en ver a Baakjira y apreciar la imagen como un todo <3

I loved doing this illustration, I went out of my comfort zone and the truth is this and satisfied with the result, of course I will improve, but I think it's a good starting point in this type of illustrations!
