Golem Overlord - What makes it more enjoyable than Splinterlands?

I must confess that I had some concerns about the entire Splinterlands ecosystem. I invested 90% of all my Hive and former Steem assets/earnings into the game and felt a bit exposed without any Hive Power. Despite having a good feeling at first, some developments took longer than expected, and I am not 100% confident anymore. Even though Land is finally here in a 1.5 or so version, there are too many warning signs for me. Fortunately, we have new options that may not be financially rewarding but are still fun to play.

I am pleased to have discovered the new game "golemoverlord" created by a fellow German player, @yixn (assuming that it is a legitimate account). Despite some folks' reservations due to certain happenings on SPL, I enjoy playing this game and have invested too many Hive/fiat resources to upgrade my account. To be fair, @golemoverlord provides what I have been missing in other games: a solid structure, enjoyable gameplay, ongoing feedback, responsiveness to the community, and a fast implementation/turnaround of ideas. I derive great pleasure from playing this game and would not even regret being unprofitable because of how much fun it is! This is a significant contrast to Splinterlands in recent times.
