Carnivore 75 Hard: Days 13 & 14

Day 14: Thursday, October 31st, 2019

I had a surprisingly popular tweet today! It was pretty funny getting so many alerts on my phone for a while. It made me think I was popular for a second. I've been finding that the pounds are starting to come off now that I'm doing the Carnivore 75 Hard challenge. I think it's because I'm making sure to always stick to the 16:8 fasting/feasting routine. Or sometimes I'm even fasting longer and eating only one meal a day. Either way, I'm feeling good, and getting down to my ideal weight.

Food!

I skipped lunch today and ate my one meal around 7:30 pm. I had four burger patties with marble jack cheese, smashed in a cast-iron skillet, along with some thick-sliced bacon and two fried eggs. It was one pretty big meal and really satisfying.

Activity!

Believe it or not today, my activity was shoveling snow. It took place outside, so it was easy to take care of that. We got several inches of snow throughout the day yesterday. It was a very snowy Halloween.

I won't be surprised if it's warm again at some point before winter actually begins. That's one thing about living in Wisconsin: the weather can change pretty drastically pretty quickly. I swear I saw some Canadian Geese flying above me in a panic, wondering how the hell they were still so far north when there's snow all over the ground already.

Random shinfo: A younger version of myself would most likely be disappointed to know that the adult version does not hand out candy on Halloween. What's worse is that one of the reasons is I don't think people should be eating so much candy. That younger version of me would be like "who the hell are you?!"

Gratitude journal

  1. This challenge gave me a reason to be excited that I had to do some shoveling. It's really easy to get some movement in outside if you have outdoor chores to do.
  2. I got to leave work early today.
  3. Found a new TV show that my wife and I both seem to enjoy: Zomboat. It's a goofy British comedy about zombies. I know TV isn't the best use of time, but I only watch it with my wife and only sometimes.

Day 14: Friday, November 1st, 2019

Day off! I still woke up around 5:20 am, though. That's just the way I roll now. I was hungry this morning but waited until basically right when 16 hours had passed since I ate dinner yesterday. I cooked up eight eggs with some more of the marble jack cheese and thick-sliced bacon I had with the burger patties last night. It was delicious, of course. Do I eat too much cheese?

Today was a pretty lazy day. My activity was more outdoor shoveling... more specifically, scraping away some ice. I laid down some ice melter earlier today, and then when it was broken up, I scraped it up. The driveway was sort of a danger zone before I did this. Especially considering we take the dogs out to the backyard on leashes and have to walk down the driveway. The dogs, Stella especially, can sometimes pull on the leashes if they're particularly excited to go outside and/or see a squirrel or something. It was in an effort to avoid injury that I performed this chore today. As a bonus, it's also a way to get some activity in outdoors.

This website got some attention today since I had the time. You may have seen that on Twitter if you follow me. If you don't, there's a handy dandy tweet embedded right up there that will take you to my profile. I've made a custom home page instead of just showing all of the blog posts. It's got a little information about me and the Carnivore 75 Hard challenge, and then a selection of the most recent Carnivore 75 Hard blog posts. Now there are other types of posts, videos, and infographics. I'll be sharing videos and images that I find the most interesting and/or useful, with links to the creators. These are the types of images people create with the intention of sharing them, so save them to your phone or your computer and share them!

I watched Fat: A Documentary again today because I got my download from backing it during the fundraising.

I thought it would be cool to have my name in the credits of this film for supporting it on IndieGoGo. What I didn't realize was just how many people would join me in supporting the film. It takes quite a long time before my name shows up on the screen, but it's cool to see just how many people were behind it. That's a real grassroots effort!

Gratitude journal

  1. On this World Vegan Day, I would like to show gratitude for finding the strength to trust my gut instinct that I needed to add animal foods back into my diet for the sake of my health. I'm thankful that I left veganism behind around 18 months ago. That was the beginning of a journey that has led me to my current way of eating, which is one of the best things I've ever done.
  2. A lovely night at home with my wife and the dogs in the TV-less living room. We had a fire and played some cards. We've got a tournament going, keeping records in a tiny Moleskine journal.
  3. I won the first round of the tournament! :)
