Splinterlands | Double Striker

Playing Splinterlands for some time has got me to like some cards more than others. If you are like me, you have cards you like, cards you play with, and then cards that are just in the collection. The first and second are the most treasured; among them, the second is your route to the treasure chests (quite literally). Why? Because those are the cards that you use quite often in battle.

I, too, prefer cards that I love to use in battle, and there are quite a few in each of the Splinters. After the Chaos pack launch, one of my favorites in the Life Splinter was the Pelacor Arbalest. The Arbalest is a double-striking, ranged attacker.

To be honest, this is not the first double-striking ranged attacker. The first one is the Axemaster from the Water Splinter. However, the Arbalest, when teamed up with General Sloan, becomes a lethal combination. General Sloan increases the attack value of all ranged attackers by one, which means Arbalest, even at its lowest level, ends up attacking twice with a total attack value of six. That's lethal, for sure!

Let's look at the Arbalest in battle. But before that, let's take a moment to know more about Splinterlands. After all, that's where you will find the Arbalest. 😊

What Game is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning. By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.

To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.

Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs

And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling it for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too.

Pelacor Arbalest in Battle | Under General Sloan

As I mentioned, the Pelacor in battle, just in the base form, is quite strong. A double attack with each having an attack value of two is heavy. But General Sloan increases the attack value of the Arbalest by one more. That means the Arbalest has a double attack with each attack of value of three. Now, that's what I call formidable!

The only issue I have with the Pelacor is its health. You see, the Arbalest has a health value of just two at the base level. That's easy picking for the opponent's opportunity monster if used. Not to mention, if the Arbalest is in the last position or closer to the last, it can be targeted even by the sneak monsters.

So not only do we have to deploy the card but also make provisions that it does not get attacked by the sneak, snipe, or opportunity monsters. That's asking a lot if one strike is enough to end the Arbalest. Despite that, it is one of the best to take the attack to the opposition.

Let's watch it in battle.

Face Off With My Opponent!

Here we are in a low mana battle, and this is what the battlefield looks like.

Games2_PA_B1.JPG

We just spoke about the Arbalest being one of the difficult ones to hide in a battle, but there is one more way. If we use a taunt monster, the sneak, snipe, and opportunity monsters will be focused on the taunter, while the Arbalest can blast the opposition to smithereens. That's the strategy I am using.

My team is in the top part of the screen while the opposition is in the bottom half. The opposition has gone for the Dragon Splinter, which gives each of their monsters a shield, while I have chosen General Sloan, which offers my ranged attackers an additional attack value.

So, how did the battle go? Let's see.

-------------******-----------------

The Battle Rages

Just one round of attack and the opponent's tank is already down to just one health. Have a look.

Games2_PA_B2.JPG

Except for the opponent's tank, no other monster has attacked yet. So, that's where we can expect some action. And here is the action.

Games2_PA_B3.JPG

The other ranged attacker in my lineup is the Venari Crystalsmith. The Crystalsmith heals my tank, which is also a taunt monster. Therefore, the opponent continues to try to kill the taunt monster while my Arbalest would happily prey on the opponent's monsters. 😊

-------------******-----------------

And then Victory!

By round three, the opponent's monsters couldn't shake off my tank, ending their chance of victory.

Games2_PA_B4.JPG

My tank has to take one more attack from the opponent's ranged attacker, and it will be healed again. That means there is no chance that the tank will be defeated. Let's see what happens after that.

And we finish off the opponent. Interestingly, the Arbalest is the one that delivers the death blow and completes the honor. Victory is mine! 😊

So, That's It | The Pelacor Arbalest is a Monster!

As you would have noticed, the Arbalest is an extremely useful and deadly monster in our kitty. It could singlehandedly finish off the opposition. In fact, that's precisely what happened. The Arbalest blasted through the shield and polished off the opponent's monsters from the face of the battlefield.

But we still need to have an excellent strategy to safeguard the Arbalest. In health-equalizer rules, the Arbalest would be the best monster to take into battle. Then, at least, we will not worry about it dying out sooner than the others. 😊

I hope you all enjoyed reading the article! Have fun Splinterlanding!
