Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge - Healed Out 1 - Modern Champion Ranked

avatar
Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge with the Healed Out rule set!

Healed Out is a very simple rule set: Healing abilities don't do anything! That means Heal, Tank Heal, and Triage. It's not the most fun rule set but I like that it exists because it changes the game. Naturally, any monster with these abilities becomes much worse. Some are unplayable, others are still usable like Cursed Windeku. Some strategies obviously can't be used, for example, Grimbardun Smith with monsters that Heal it. Repair still works, so that's something you can use to better protect your monsters. Affliction still works but it doesn't do anything. Life Leech still works, though!

Let's take a look at a game with this rule set. I found an interesting battle in Modern Champion Ranked: https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_148cac94a81b4e7173c7c601448a59aa

This game also has the Close Range and the Odds Ones Out rule sets. The top player went with Grandmaster Rathe. Inevitable is their tank. It doesn't have the Triage but the Repair still works great. And, with the Void Armor from Grandmaster, it can "heal" any type of damage. Next, they put Zyriel, which I don't know why it is in the second position. Iziar is in the third position with Djinn Renova next to it. The last 2 are Adelade Brightwing and Commander Goff. The bottom player opted for Akane. Their first monster is Mantaroth followed by Iziar. Venka the Vila and Commander Goff are next. The final 2 are Oshuur Constantia and Adelade Brightwing. Interesting teams with a few monsters that have one of the healing abilities and these players decided that they were still good enough.

The bottom player gave Ambush to Venka and Mantaroth. After the Ambush phase, there were a few attacks and when Venka hit Iziar and killed it, it trampled into Renova, leaving it at 2 HP. The first Resurrect was used. The bottom player was able to kill Iziar a second time while the top player failed to get any kills in this round. However, next, Renova was the first monster to attack and kill Iziar for the first time. Venka was now buffed and it killed Iziar for the third time, taking out Renova with the Trample. The top player was able to kill Iziar 3 more times here but that buffed Venka and Mantaroth a lot! Inevitable may be hard to kill. However, when it is attacked by a 12 power Venka followed by a Mantaroth with 6 Armor and 8 attack, it dies fast. Zyriel also died to Mantaroth. At this point, it's easy to see that the bottom player won this game since they have 5 monsters against just 2. The game ended in round 4.
