Battle of the Day #43

This is a ranked Diamond match. The game has the following rule sets: Up Close & Personal, Corrosive Fog, and Rise of the Commons. I opted for Helios Matriarch so I could play Katrelba Gobson. I put Hill Giant in front, follow by Venari Scout, Whelp Herder, Dhampir Infiltrator, Katrelba, and Vruz. Their strategy was very different, as they went with Astral Entity and tried to make me miss as much as possible. They placed Ever-Hungry Skull in front, to take all the frontal attacks and punish them with Thorns. They put Cursed Windeku next, for the Slow and to have another Thorns monster. Chaos Jailer was in their third slot for more Slow. Pelacor Deceiver was their last monster, to punish Sneak attackers with misses plus Backfire or Retaliate.

They took out my Vruz right away with the Ambush because they Poisoned. Katrelba left their Deceiver at 2 HP. Since Katrelba has Snare and the Deceiver has Flying, the Dodge doesn't do anything. Infiltrator attacked next, missing the first attack but hitting the next one. This was very important because if it missed both it would die. It also made them use the Resurrect on the Deceiver instead of the Ever-Hungry Skull. However, my Infiltrator also died to the Retaliate. I missed a few attacks on the Skull but Whelp Herder hit it because of the Snare. In round 2, Katrelba killed the Deceiver for good but it got Retaliated. I lost my Hill Giant, but I was able to leave their Skull at 1 armor, which was removed with the Corrosive Fog. In the next one, Katrelba killed the Jailer, Scout took out the Skull, Windeku missed the Scout and Whel Herder hit the Windeku, dying from the Thorns. In round 4, Katrelba didn't miss any of the 2 attacks, taking out their last monster and surviving at 1 HP. Katrelba the MVP!
