Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - 50 Shades of Lorkus

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. It was a game with the Shades of Gray rule set and I used the Lorkus summoner.

This game has the following rule sets: Deflection Shield, Shades of Gray, and What Doesn't Kill You. In Shades of Gray, summoner choice is usually very important. However, with only the Death Splinter available, there's not that much choice. I don't have Cryptic maxed out so my options were Lorkus, Thaddius Brood, or Astral Entity. Thaddius seems like the weakest option, especially in a 46 mana game. Astral Entity can be very powerful, but I didn't want to rely on the Dodge RNG. After picking Lorkus, I placed Mantaroth in front, followed by Venari Spellsmith and Venka the Vile. Next, I used Magi of Chaos and Doctor Blight and I finished the team with Supply Runner. They opted for Astral Entity and put Arkemis the Bear in front. They followed it up with Coeurl Lurker, Spirit Hoarder, Uraeus, Supplu Runner, and Doctor Blight. Some of their cards were not at max level, though.

I gave Life Leech and Affliction to Mantaroth and Doctor Blight. I quickly took out their Lurker twice, missing only 1 attack. They put my Supply Runner at 3 HP and Poisoned. In round 2, they finished my Runner but I killed both Arkemis and Spirit Hoarder. In round 3, Venka killed 2 of their units, leaving them with only the Doctor Blight. The rest of my team finished the game.

I didn't want to rely on Astral Entity's RNG. They did and it didn't work out for them. The game could have been different if I missed Coeurl Lurker several times, especially Venka's attack. The level difference wasn't significant, in my opinion. Lurker at level 2 instead of 4, just lost 2 HP. Thorns is irrelevant in Deflection Shield and the extra attack wouldn't have any impact. Spirit Hoarder's extra attack wouldn't change anything either and Doctor Blight's lack of Weaken could have made Supply Runner die to the Poison. That would have been the biggest impact out of all of these but I still don't think it's likely that would have made the difference.
