Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - RNG can be hard to overcome

avatar

Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. It was a game where RNG played a big role. But was it the main role or just a secondary one? Let's find out.

This game has the following rule sets: Broken Arrows, Are You Not Entertained?, and Silenced Summoners. Since it's Silenced Summoners and I don't have any of the 3 mana dual splinter summoners, my best option is a 4 mana dragon summoner. I used Sthispa but Quix would be the same. I put Halfling Refugee in front, followed by Venator Kinjo. I placed Isgald Vorst, Vruz, and Pelacor Bandit next and finished with Chaos Agent. They used Zeddica as their summoner and put Chaos Rear Guard as their tank, followed by Corpse Fiend. They put the Weapons Training combination of Chaos Agent, Daarg Deadblast, and Merdalli Guardian, and finished their team with Torrent Fiend.

I took out both Fiends, with Isgald Vorst getting one kill. They also killed my Refugee with their magic attacks. In round 2, Pelacor killed Merdalli Guardian and Vorst got the Chaos Agent. They finished my Kinjo. Things looked good for me but RNG started doing its thing. In rounds 3 and 4, Pelacor missed both attacks, just from the Dodge. With the Triage, it was healing itself from the True Strike Vruz hits. In round 5 my Pelacor finally hit Daarg down to 2 HP and it healed itself back to 4. My Vorst died to the magic attack. In round 6, RNG strikes again and Pelacor missed Daarg! Pelacor gets the Martyr buff from Vruz so it has enough damage to finish their tank in round 7. However, it goes down to 3 HP. In round 8 it hits Daarg down to 1 HP but it dies right after. I had 2 chances for their Daarg to miss an attack and take the win and thankfully, they missed right away.

That was a closer game than it needed to be. However, in the end, RNG didn't play the main role and I got the win. Or maybe it was the main role anyway since it appeared to take the win from me to give it back in the end? I still think I was the favorite to win the game overall and even in that last confrontation, I had a 45% chance to dodge each of the last 2 possible attacks, so that is in my favor.

What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!
