Splinterlands Season Rewards: The Golden Goose + Weekly Battle Challenge
Don't Kill The Golden Goose! Here are my rewards for ending the last Splinterlands season in the Silver III league.
I can never complain about the earnings per win stats when playing Splinterlands...especially when I get end of season rewards every 14 days.
These rewards are pretty much a biweekly airdrop for actively playing the game (that increase/decrease based on how much you win). This is one of the earning mechanisms that make Splinterlands a no-brainer in the play2earn arena.
This season's rewards weren't jaw-dropping but I did receive a gold card (Venari Heatsmith), which is always great for collection power, and a pretty useful rare card, the Gargoya Devil. I've earned my share of epic and legendary cards from rewards so I'm grateful either way.
To really reap the benefits of the season rewards you want to make it a priority to at least compete in the Silver League. That way you earn DEC (instead of game credits) and have a higher probability of receiving monsters from your daily quest and season rewards...and of the course the higher your league, the more reward chests you get.
A short-term goal of mine is to get my Collection Power up to 15k (minimum for Silver III League) without any boost from rentals. That way I can rent up to the Silver I league and earn a lot more rewards and DEC.
Quick tip if you're trying to take advantage of the rental market, for strategy and/or for collection power...DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON!
Based on how the rental costs skyrocket at the end of the season (based on demand), you're better off just renting for multiple days around mid-season IMO, when there is about 6-8 days left at the latest.
Now lets get into this weeks Battle Challenge, starring the Stone Golem!
THEME: STONE GOLEM
Edition: ALPHA/BETA
Rarity: RARE
Element: EARTH
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: SHIELD//STUN AT LEVEL 5
Truth be told, I NEVER use this card. There are a lot of other good tank cards on the Earth splinter that are better IMO.
Based on the cards that are used the most in the bronze and silver league, the Stone Golem seems pretty obsolete. I don't see the value in it until it reaches level 5 and acquires the stun ability.
I'm not sure how often it is utilized in the higher leagues. With that said, winning with this card will be all about the right ruleset.
The ruleset I ended up utiizing the Stone Golem was "Super Sneak". Even though I still wouldn't use this card normally, this seemed like an opportunity to use it in a winning game.
Utilizing the Golem towards the rear along with the Stonesplitter Orc made a good tandem. The Orc's retaliate ability along with the Golem's shield was enough for my frontline to rip through the Shieldbearer and company.
I made the mistake of playing the Failed Summoner just in case my opponent played Water splinter, but I got away with it because of the rear duo I played.
