To say the faculty at Pelcroft were uncooperative when first presented with Alastair's “evidence” would be an understatement. Shunned for his obsession with obscure folklore and laughed at for his insistence on a forgotten “hidden” continent, staff and friends alike mumbled pejoratives just out of earshot suggesting an unbalanced mind, drawing comparisons to the infirmed at Silverwood Asylum.
But the Yerivin Manuscript could not be ignored. Though indecipherable, the illuminated volume hinted at lands and flora somehow lost, suggesting a rich landscape ever so near but inaccessible to the uninitiated. As his critics grew more vocal he grew ever more determined, reclusive and choleric, buying the artifacts he could and stealing what he could not to fuel his obsessive research; obscure tablets in jade, strange figures carved in hardwoods unknown, and fragments of rotting velum in writing nearly identical the Yerivin volume. Hello beautiful people! I hope you're all doing great and if you're not, you will be soon! I didn't remember the existence of this character in the @Splinterlands card list and obviously I had to make it stylized in my grayscale style and share it in this week's Social Media. It really was a stylized sketch that I enjoyed doing, although it took me more time than I had intended, but from the beginning I enjoyed it. Also the history of the character is very interesting, so go and take a look at this amazing card, remember that I always leave links referring to this character from the beginning to the end.
Hola gente bonita! Espero estén super bien todos y si no lo están, pronto lo estarán! No recordaba la existencia de este personaje en la lista de cartas de @Splinterlands y obviamente tenia que hacerlo estilizado a mi estilo en escala de grises y así compartirlo en el Social Media de esta semana. Realmente fue en boceto estilizado que disfrute hacer, aunque me tomo mas tiempo del que tenia pensado, pero desde el inicio lo disfrute. Ademas la historia del personaje esta demasiado interesante, así que ve y échale un ojo a esta increíble carta, recuerda que siempre dejo enlaces referentes a este personaje desde el inicio, hasta el final.
I was looking at the original drawing for a while, to see how to do it in my style and also to look for elements that I could use as references and integrate them to it. I looked for a couple of references on Pinterest according to the character to structure it and then add the new elements. The character of "Doctor Blight reminds me in a way to death or the reaper, but actually the card is inspired by the costume of the black plague, as I understand the costume as such was known as "Doctor of the plague", but it is an outfit that most people recognize instantly.
Estuve viendo por un buen rato el dibujo original, para ver como hacerlo a mi estilo y para también buscar elementos que me sirvieran de referencias e integrarlos al mismo. Busque un par de referencias en Pinterest de acuerdo al personaje para estructurarlo y luego agregar los nuevos elementos. El personaje de "Doctor Blight me hace recordar de cierto modo a la muerte o a la parca, pero en realidad la carta esta inspirada en el traje de la peste negra, según tengo entendido el traje como tal era conocido como "Doctor de la peste", pero es un atuendo que la gran mayoría reconoce al instante.

To my drawing I added the elements of the original Doctor Blight card, like the staff or scepter and the lamp, but I made changes to both of them. For the lamp of light, I wanted to give a darker touch to it, since in the original version it's just a lamp and that's it. I wanted to give it that dark touch, to compensate the original composition of "Doctor Blight", so I made that lamp taking as inspiration many things, a skull, a lamp, making it a little different and finally some mushrooms, which in my head are the ones that emit that light. In general I feel that all these elements that I took as a reference, compose a lamp with a dark or gloomy touch, which I love.
A mi dibujo le agregue los elementos de la carta original de Doctor Blight, como el bastón o cetro y la lampara, pero le hice cambios a ambas cosas. Para la lampara de luz, quise darle un toque mas oscuro a la misma, ya que en la versión original es solo una lampara y ya. Yo quise darle ese toque oscuro, que compensara la composición original de "Doctor Blight", así que esa lampara la hice tomando como inspiración muchas cosas, un cráneo, una lampara, haciéndola un poco diferente y por ultimo unos hongos, que en mi cabeza son los que emiten esa luz. En general siento que todos estos elementos que tome como referencia, componen una lampara con un toque tétrico u oscuro, lo cual me encanta.

And for the scepter or cane, what I did was to look for references of skulls, hands and more canes in itself, to then structure a new cane where I integrated all the above mentioned and thus be with a darker design than the original, which was what I was looking to get. The color work you know how it is, it is only to work the drawing in grayscales, predominating in most of the time the black and white. I made a play of lights with the lamp, since the character itself is in a night environment, I want to believe, so it was something necessary to do on it. And that's it, that was it folks.
Y para el cetro o bastón, lo que hice fue buscar referencias de cráneos, manos y más bastones en sí, para luego estructurar un nuevo bastón donde integrara todo lo antes mencionado y así quedar con un diseño mas oscuro que el original, que era lo que estaba buscando conseguir. El trabajo de color ya saben como es, es solo trabajar el dibujo en escalas de grises, predominando en la gran mayoría del tiempo el negro y blanco. Hice un juego de luces con la lampara, ya que el personaje en sí esta en un entorno de noche, quiero creer, así que era algo necesario para hacer en el mismo. Y listo, eso fue todo amigos.
