For this week's Social Media Challenge, I made a fanart of the card Feasting Seaweed, it is a character that in the times I've seen it, reviewing the cards in the game, always intrigues me a little, because of the composition of it, because it is something rare or different. So it was the one I chose to do it in my style and see how it looked and since the theme of the challenge this week was free, here is my version of Feasting Seaweed.

Para el Social Media Challenge de esta semana, hice un fanart de la carta Feasting Seaweed, es un personaje que en las veces que lo he visto, revisando las cartas en el juego, siempre me intriga un poco, por la composición del mismo, porque es algo raro o distinto. Entonces fue el que escogí para hacerlo a mi estilo y ver que tal quedaba y puesto a que el tema del reto esta semana era libre, pues aquí esta mi versión de Feasting Seaweed.

Because I've been having a hard time with the electricity in my town, I've moved the character sketch forward in traditional, so I can cover more time when I don't have electricity.

A causa de que he estado pasando malos momentos con la luz eléctrica en mi pueblo, adelante el boceto del personaje en tradicional, para así cubrir mas tiempo cuando no tengo luz.

To make my version, I took the original card as a reference, obviously, to take aspects of it and thus be able to structure the character in my style. I wanted to make the vines in the shape of a snake, making the head of it in a somewhat macabre or peculiar way, since the original character has like mouths on his body, so I started from there and took as inspiration the composition of my drawing. In addition I added some species of withered flowers in some zones of the body of the character, since in the original drawing we can also see them, only that I improved them a little in a certain way.

Para hacer mi versión, tome como referencia la carta original evidentemente, para tomar aspectos del mismo y así poder estructurar el personaje a mi estilo. Quise hacer las enredaderas en forma de serpiente, haciendo la cabeza de la misma en una forma un tanto macabra o peculiar, ya que el personaje original tiene como bocas en su cuerpo, así que de ahí partí y tome como inspiración la composición de mi dibujo. Ademas agregue unas especies de flores marchitadas en algunas zonas del cuerpo del personaje, ya que en el dibujo original las podemos ver también, solo que yo las mejore un poco de cierto modo.

After having spent a long time structuring the whole sketch, I go to the PC, once the electricity has arrived obviously, and I start to work on the line art and improve the sketch. What I do is to take a picture of the sketch in traditional and then pass it to Clip Studio Paint to start detailing the line art and clean up the sketch itself. To do the line art work, what I use is a nib brush that I downloaded, since I don't really like the default ones in Clip Studio Paint.

Luego de haber estado un buen rato estructurando todo el boceto, me voy a la PC, una vez haya llegado la luz eléctrica evidentemente y comienzo a trabajar el line art y mejorar dicho boceto. Lo que hago es tomarle una foto al boceto en tradicional y luego pasarlo al Clip Studio Paint para comenzar a detallar el line art y limpiar todo el boceto en sí. Para hacer el trabajo de line art, lo que uso es un pincel de plumilla que descargue, ya que los que están predeterminados en el Clip Studio Paint, no me gustan mucho la verdad.

After the line art work, I start working on the color. I start adding a base color, which was a light ocher, which basically was going to serve me for the skin color of the hand. Then I add the base colors for each area of the illustration. And now I start to detail everything and for this, I started with the hand and then I went to the snake vine and finally the carnivorous flowers. I must say that for all the color work, I use watercolor brushes and color mixers and for the color palette I use, I always take as a reference the original of the chart, I just adjust it to my taste and that's it.

Luego del trabajo de line art, paso a comenzar a trabajar el color. Comienzo agregando un color base, el cual fue un ocre claro, que básicamente me iba a servir para el color de piel de la mano. Luego paso a agregar los colores base para cada zona de la ilustración. Y ahora si, comienzo a detallar todo y para ello, inicie con la mano y luego me fui a la enredadera serpiente y por ultimo las flores carnívoras. Debo decir que para todo el trabajo de color, use pinceles de acuarela y mezcladores de color y para la paleta de color que uso, siempre tomo como referencia la original de la carta, solo la ajusto a mi gusto y ya.

Detailing each area and element in each illustration is something I enjoy a lot, because I'm just adding color, blending and that's it. As I'm detailing, I'm adjusting the colors in terms of tones, contrast and brightness. The last thing I do is to add some final details to the illustration like some glows, the background and adjust a little bit the shadows on it and that's it folks, I'm done with the drawing.

Detallar cada zona y elemento en cada ilustración es algo que disfruto bastante, porque solo estoy agregando colo, mezclando y ya. A la par que voy detallando, voy ajustando los colores en cuanto a los tonos, contraste y brillo. Lo ultimo que hago es agregar algunos detalles finales a la ilustración como algunos brillos, el fondo y ajusto un poco las sombras en el mismo y listo amigos, terminaría con el dibujo.
