Documenting my Splinterlands Knowledge - Glint and Reward Shop Updates, and Random Draws

Hello there.

The Baron's Bounty event has finished. We were so close to breaching 200 million DEC/Credits used, but I think the event was a success overall. I don't think the top 10 changed from the last I saw it. I wasn't able to check how many players joined, but reaching this value when the price of SPS and DEC are still low shows a lot of confidence from the players.

After the EOS, the team made some changes on how much Glint was earned. Instead of getting double the amount of Glint earned throughout the season in the EOS loot, they instead flipped it around. They increased the Glint earned per battle by 50%, and removed the multiplier from the EOS loot. I think this made Glint to be available quicker, although it lessened the anticipation of getting the EOS loot. I was getting a base of 79-80 near the EOS last season, so the computation seems to be the same.

Apart from the Glint changes, the team also added new choices in the Glint Reward Shop. We now have Rarity Draws. For those who think they have bad luck with RNG, they can just opt for this and get what they want. All have a flat 2% chance for gold foil, but Alchemy potions can be used to double the chance. All of them also provide just 1 copy of a card. Since I want to max level my summoners I might look to get a lot of the rare draws if I have to choose.

The Common Draw is only 100 Glint compared to the 150 Glint of the Initiate Draw. I am thinking if it is still worth it to go for the Initiate draws. If one has horrible luck, they will get all common cards, and lose out on 500 Glint. If they have normal luck, they will get 1 Rare card, and just lose out on 100 Glint if they bought 9 common and 1 rare draw. If they are insanely lucky, they can get 1 epic or legendary card.

I don't know if it's been there before, but one that I just noticed, was the purchase history. You can check out the previous purchases, up to the last 30.

In my last Initiate Draws, I got 1 Rare, and 9 common. Comparing to the Rarity draws, I lost out on 100 Glint (1500 I vs 1400 C+R). For the Adept Draws, I got 16 common, and 2 rare cards. Comparing to the Rarity draws, I lost 1400 Glint (4000 A vs 2600 C+R). Of course, these are just small sample sizes, and I didn't use any potions. Just to get an idea, I will now do the Veteran, Elite, and Master Draws. Since I have low amounts of potions, I will only use them on the Master Draws. That was also the only time I was thinking of using my potions anyways.

Veteran Draws

My streak of bad luck seems to continue. I didn't get any epic or legendary, and only 1 out of the 10 was rare. The silver lining is that I got the max number of rares possible. I got 29 Common, and 5 Rares. So comparing this to the rarity draws, I lost 4600 Glint (10000 V vs 5400 C+R).

Elite Draws

And my luck gets worse. All I got were 60 common cards. Comparing it to the rarity draws, I lost 19000 Glint (25000 E vs 6000 C). That hurts. The only way for my luck to have gone much worse was if I got 1 copies of each.

Master Draws

Now that's what I'm talking about! Just a reminder, these are the chances for the master draw: 68.8% C, 20% R, 8% E, 3.2% L, 6% GF. Out of the 10, I got 1(4 copies) Common, 3(25) Rares, 5(6)[1GF] Epics, and 1(2!) Legendary cards. I started with 20 and 19 potions, and ended up with 10 and 9, so I used up 10, and I'll take those into consideration as well. 10 Legendary Potion is 784 Glint, while 10 Alchemy Potion is 980 Glint. I probably won't open Master Draws without them because of how much the draw costs. Comparing to the rarity draws I saved 46216 Glint(51684 L+Potions vs 97900 C+R+E+L)! The 2 copies of the legendary paying for the whole cost is already great. But the multiple epics was the big surprise. I still can't believe I only got 1 common draw out of the 10!

I was already prepared to say that this post will be my proof that I have horrible luck, especially after the Elite draws. But I was blown away by this one. This is probably the luckiest I've been in this game, and the only way to beat that will be getting my first GFL.

After the four Random Draws, I was willing to move on to the Rarity Draws and go for what's safe, especially if I got a mediocre Master Draw (1 legendary). But like the way the casino draws people in, it only takes one jackpot to get hooked. I'm already looking forward to my next 10 Master draws. Or maybe, like what mentality one should have once they've won big in the casino, I should quit while I'm ahead. I have a full season or two to figure that out.
