Documenting my Splinterlands Knowledge - Tournaments Part 4

Hello there.

Welcome to my Tournaments post. In part 3, I remember saying I wouldn't make one for every tournament I win, but I want to share one specific tournament that I had recently. In the Darastrix Modern Bronze Beginner Training, I was able to get 3rd place.

I perform well in the Novice tournaments, but I struggle a bit in the Bronze tournaments. I usually fall within Rank 33-80, out of an average of around 180 players. I don't have a complete max level CL/RW deck, which gives me a disadvantage against those that do.

In the official Splinterlands hosted tournaments, there are 4 Bronze tournaments. The Scarred Hand Bronze Bronze Beginner Cup, Darastrix Modern Bronze Beginner Training, Archipelago Modern Bronze Invitational, and the Gobson Masters Bronze. I try my best to join all 4 since they are almost always 'free' tournaments, and I can earn some SPS if I perform well.

The Scarred Hand has the lowest SPS rewards with 20 SPS for the top 4. Darastrix is in the middle with 40 SPS, and Archipelago joining it in the middle with 54 SPS. Gobson has the best one with 80 SPS. You can check out the details of each to see how much lower placers get. Since I am talking about Darastrix, here is the breakdown below:

I don't know what I did, or how I did it, but for the first day of the tournament, I had a 10-1 record. I only lost to Obifenom. I usually do my battles early, and just watch the battles as they come. Since I join a lot of tournaments, I don't usually remember who I faced, or when I faced them. I also don't really look at the tournament tier at the top of the battle. So when I saw the 10-1 record, I initially thought that I was looking at my Novice tournament. But you can imagine my surprise when I realized that it was actually for the Bronze tournament.

Round 2 was a bit nerve wracking. Since I had a really good chance of placing high, I was a bit on edge going into my battles. There were some nerves, but I tried my best to keep calm. I played a few ranked battles to get my mindset into the game, and once I had a few good wins, that's when I played round 2.

Luckily, I went 9-2. Round 2 is expected to be harder, since they are the ones who were able to get out of Round 1 with a good record. Waiting and watching each battle was also full of suspense. I think one of the first matches I watched was a loss, so that was already a big blow to my confidence early on.

This was the final standing of the tournament. I am familiar with most of these names, and I have seen them win or perform really well in other tournaments. Nitroage is someone I frequently face in the Novice Tournaments. Maxmaka is a SPLTV streamer, and I lose to him a lot of times. I am a bit proud that I was one of the two people that gave Slaifer a loss. They would have had the same record as Nitroage.

As for the other tournaments, I have started to join the Chaos Legion Training Tournament by Kryptogames. I used to join this before, but it was a bit of a hassle because of the number of games. There are like 16-18 battles per round, and the amount of DEC rewards are not that high in the lower places.

It stopped for a while, but it has recently returned. I noticed that there were a few players joining, so it is a bit worth it again. The DEC rewards also help since it is very difficult to get DEC right now, unless you reach the Leaderboard.

I have frequently suggested to newer/weaker players to play in tournaments, both in my posts, and in discord. I especially encourage them to participate in the Novice tournaments where card levels are equal, and they have a higher chances of winning.

I am now including this tournament, because it can help provide some DEC rewards that newer/weaker players need. It can help in renting cards as well. I would like to highlight that there is a 100 player cutoff for the tournament to be 'free'. If you are just starting out, try to check the number of players first before entering.

That is it for my Tournament post. Hopefully I perform well in the succeeding Novice/Bronze tournaments, as well as get higher placement in the Silver and Diamond ones. Apart from the Novice and Bronze Tournaments, I encourage everyone to join most of the tournaments they can join. A lot of them are basically free because of the low number of participants, since you get your entrance fee back even if you perform poorly. Don't hesitate to let me know what you think, and if have suggestions for improvement.
