Documenting my Splinterlands Knowledge - Wild Journey Part 2 and Reward System Update

Hello there.

In my previous post I talked about moving to Wild and how I am getting more rewards and enjoying the battles compared to Modern. I ended up in Gold league using just my Silver Soulbound reward cards, Bronze Gladiator cards, and a lot of level 1 cards. It wasn't smooth sailing from 2400, but I did reach Gold 1. I was going to stop and assess things before winning a battle and moving up to Diamond, but I ended up being in the zone of playing that I ended up moving to diamond anyways.

I think Wild Diamond 3's difficulty is now similar to Modern Bronze. I don't win as easily, and I even go on lose streaks. There are a few win streaks here and there, but difficulty wise, I think it is just right. I think this is bad for me. The ideal scenario would have been to experience this in Gold 1 and just stay there. Being in Diamond 3 means I get diamond daily chest, but being in diamond 3 and having low rating hurts my points. It also doesn't help that my staked SPS isn't enough anymore.

Speaking of staked SPS, the SPS I rented was done after 7 days and it was unstaked from me. I think I had around x5.5 when I had it, and now I'm down to just x3.37 for my 11k stake. This is really gonna hamper my rewards. It appears Gold is the highest I should go for. I've only been getting 2-3 daily diamond chests and their contents were not that exciting. Getting more Gold chests might have given me better odds in the long run. But that doesn't really matter much anymore since they're revamping the reward system.

On the next season there will be a new soulbound token, Glint. From my understanding it will replace the current rewards system. Instead of getting season and daily chests, we will now get Glint. The computation for Glint rewards will be similar to the current RP, while the season Glint amount will be based on the final rating of the player. Glint doesn't expire.

Goodbye loot chests. You were never nice to me.

Together with Glint will be the introduction of a Rewards shop where a player can spend their Glint. There will be choices like Reward card 'Draws', where there will be price levels. Higher levels has a higher chance of giving out a rarer cards or even GF. There can now be a strategy of just buying the cheap ones to level up cards, or saving up and trying for the higher chance draw.

Apart from Reward cards, players can buy Merits to buy Gladius packs, Energy and Potions, and Limited Edition Titles. Apart from the titles, most of the ones that can be bought are mostly soulbound items as well. The team said there will be plans to add more in the future, but for now these are the ones available upon release of the update.

Together with the update, soulbound reward cards will also have the option of being burned for Glint. The rate is x10 of the CP. Gladiator card burning will also change. Instead of turning into DEC, they will now turn to Merits at a rate of 1:1 after the update. Some are expecting that there will be a massive amount of Gladiator cards burned, especially in Bot accounts, because of this change.

Because Glint is replacing the chests, SPS that were allocated in those chests will be moved to the ranked battle reward pool. So winning battles should theoretically give more SPS. Finally, in their plan to entice more players to play in Modern, Modern rewards will have 50 percent more Glint rewards compared to Wild. As someone who just recently switched to Wild, this hurts a bit. But I'm hoping I can earn more Glint in Wild Gold, than I would in Modern Bronze.

While I think a lot will argue that they are adding more and more soulbound tokens and assets while removing more earnings, I think this is good for the game. The Glint and Reward Shops give players more options. Those who have already maxed some SB cards, can burn them to try and get ones that they don't have yet. Titles might be enticing for Land players. The SPS reward changes has the possibility of reducing SPS produced since energy is limited. If players do buy more energy, then they could also be burning DEC which is really good. As for the burning of SB cards, a lot of players have been clamoring for something like this. It doesn't benefit the bot farms, but it also helps actual players, so I think it is a good compromise. I am excited to see how it looks and works.

That is it for my Wild and Glint update post. Next week will be when the changes happen, so I'll probably post my first impressions of it. Don't hesitate to let me know what you think, and if you have suggestions for improvement.
