Shields up!
Been quite some time since I have joined the Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! This week's prompt is *Armored up".
And to join the fun, I chose a high mana match in my latest brawl; there was only one splinter available, so it's a Life vs Life battle!
First, the rulesets:
Fun combo here! Some choose to ignore the target practice and go full melee mayhem, taking advantage of the super sneak; some strategies prefer to use the non-melee cards more heavily and protect the backline, so I was curious to see what would I encounter here.
Given that it was a brawl in the gold league, I decided to use one of the soulbound summoners with the conscript ability, to be able to use 2 bloodlust cards instead of one! As I was building the team though, I ended up on counting with Captain Katie only, and use one of my favourite cards in this ruleset, the crazy hippo! ;)
Here's my lineup:
Sacred Unicorn as tank: given the rulesets, it was unlikely to have heavy attacks to the first spot, and this card has a very decent attack and heal
Lord Arianthus: given the target practice ruleset, this card would be a hard one to take down easily in the first snipe position
Captain Katie: one of my favourite gladiators, with 4 magic damage attack
Jared Scar: in this ruleset, with piercing and true strike, it's a very hard hitter! The only problem here was the slow speed.
Inevitable: one of the gist times I've used this card! But it fitted perfectly here: high HP, but mainly for the triage ability to help the snipe and/or sneak targets stay alive. Too bad I don't have it at level 2, the shield ability would come in handy
Chaos Knight: A strong card for the backline, with the shield ability
So, how did this battle went?
My opponent chose a beefy tank: very high HP and heal, so using the same thought process, it could probably stay alive long enough to strike on the second round. As the off-tank the gladiator, Marisol Contuma: high speed, high attack, and good HP, also a nice choice! Iziar on the last position with taunt would attract all the attack, with a good support from djinn renova with the triage and brightwing with the repair and resurrect abilities.
But at the end of round 2, after Iziar ressurected, my Jared Scar delivered the killing blow, which meant bloodlust kicking in! And from there, my job was a lot easier.
Katie delivers the killing blow to Brightwing, so gains bloodlust as well: 2 buffed cards now, and only 4 cards left on the opponent, with all my cards still on the battlefield.
Jared claims another victim, and bloodlust kicks again. There were no doubts about the winner at this point, and although my unicorn fall, at the last round...
Jared and Katie were mean killing machines by then, and the battle was over. You can see the full battle here!
Would you have chosen a different strategy, or different cards? Do let me know!
See you on the battlefield!

Don’t know which one to pick because I’m not really familiar with the game
I’d love to learn about it though
It's a fun game for sure, hope they improve the new player experience soon.
Nice fight. You didn't call out the giant killer. Key to taking down Iziar. I always have trouble against that card. Bloodlust is glorious once it kicks in 😅
True, and actually didn't even was on my strategy, that's one ability I tend to overlook; but did come in handy this time!
