Get More LOOT! - Splinterlands Card Rentals

Splinterlands is a blockchain based trading card game that rewards players with cryptocurrency and NFTs for winning battles, completing quests, and finishing out a successful season. As the game increases in popularity, the NFT drops from the game have become even more valuable, BUT increased competition also means that it can be harder to rise up through the ranks. In today's post, I'll show you how the PeakMonsters card rental system can not only help you win more matches but also reach higher levels and increase the rewards you earn from investing your time into the game.

Renting Playable Cards

In Splinterlands, leveling up and earning rewards is a function of two separate factors 1) winning matches and 2) having sufficient power to reach the higher levels; renting cards can help with both of these functions. Renting cards allows players to get key monsters for their team without having to spend the currently outrageously high prices. Just take a look at he current price of Djinn Oshannus. This is an incredibly powerful Water Splinter Monster that can make or break a lot of matches, and after getting beat by this monster numerous times, I knew that I needed it in my deck.

That being said, the current price to purchase this monster outright is over $46 whereas I can rent the same monster for only about 14 cents per day. Consider that Djinn is a Water Splinter monster and that there are many other "must have" monsters from other Splinters. Buying all of these monsters could be extremely expensive, and I feel that renting allows players to enjoy fun gameplay in competitive matches without having to spend a fortune.

Renting Collection Power (CP)

Simply winning matches isn't enough to move up in Splinterlands and claim higher rewards. Soon after I started playing, Splinterlands also implemented a "Power" requirement to move up in leagues which meant that even if you won every single match, you couldn't move up to the next league and earn higher rewards until you had accumulated enough cards to meet the power requirements.

If you keep winning matches but can't move up to the higher leagues because you don't have enough power, renting might be a viable option. Consider that this season, I had a rating of 1,633 and power of around 9,000 which would have placed me in Bronze I and entitled me to 9 reward chests. However, we can see that I actually won enough matches to be at a considerably higher league of Silver I which would double my end of season reward chests to 18. By renting collection power, I was able to inch up into the higher leagues and snag some additional rewards.

The cost viability of this strategy will depend on a few factors (which I discuss in the video), but in general, I feel that it is worthwhile to rent collection power to get more reward chests. The going rate for collection power is around 100 CP per DEC and it takes 10K CP to move from the lowest point in Bronze I to the lowest point in Silver III which means you would spend around 100 DEC to get into the next league and get an additional 3 loot chests for about 33 DEC per loot chest.

Technical Difficulties

Although I have used the rental system with no issues in the past, I did have a harder time using it this time. I had to submit my bids and readjust the bids multiple times trying to get my CP order filled. Even with lots of adjusting, I had to go in and manually rent a few cards from the Splinterlands rental market to meet my desired power rating. I'm not sure if this was because everyone was trying to level up prior to the end of the season or if it was due to the huge amount of power I was bidding for. Perhaps renting power is better if you just need a few extra CP to advance to the next level.

Summary

As always, the cost/benefit analysis of purchasing CP depends on a lot of factors, but for my situation, I found it worth it to rent some power at the end of the season to get into the higher leagues. Not only does it give me more reward chests, but renting the CP also means that I will reset to a higher level at the start of the next season and save me time battling through the lower levels.

Feel free to leave your strategy in the comments below. Do you rent CP? Do you rent monsters/summoners, or do you just play with what you have and slowly level up through the loot chests and rewards? Thanks for reading and nothing is financial advice.
