Soul Torn ~ The cycle of Splinterlands.

I was quite out of the loop when it comes to soulbound cards. The last I heard of it was a video by @hawks21 and I thought it was more a theory than a reality.

Last season I played only in Silver, and my Bronze account stayed bronze. The simple idea is that although I technically can play Wild Gold with my main account I should with far less effort get more chests, and on a single item basis more chests mean more chances for better cards.

Since SPS rewards is not a good metric for reward chests and more a metric to be used for daily earnings and given the value of that, SPS is a nice bonus but definitely not a reward I am too arsed with.

Not to say there is no value, in a instant gratification sense of reward it fails, forgetting about SPS and going "Oh look I have $10" a month down the line is more inline with SPS which does tie in very well with the general token lifecycle on Hive.

So this season I stuck to my Silver play and did not do too well but it turns out matchmaking in Silver went completely cray-cray and I was being paired with far lower rated players.

This means that although I have a massive winstreak getting the 50% win streak bonus per match and supposedly should be getting some very nice Reward Points ; I infact was getting screwed and gained next to nothing.

It would have been better to play Silver 3 instead of 1 and play against equally ranked players.

So I moved up to Gold, and found out about another thing I did not know.

Multiple Soulbound Cards

Now this could have been released with a recent update but I did not once get multiple cards per chest in my Silver chests.

From the first day in Gold I received multiple cards in my chest, needless to say I thought this was a Gold feature.

Bronze Rewards

Gold Rewards

Again I think this was released in the first week after Soulbound, but it is a big change. If I stayed in Silver I would likely have far lower chances at getting multiples per chest and this is where moving up in the League matters.

Even if I earn 12 chests in Silver chances are with half the amount of chests in Gold I can earn more cards. On average SPS is also higher but unless that is some mega amount it hardly matters to me short term. Still nice to have and stack.

My concern with Soulbound cards being so powerful and even in Wild many decks are built almost entirely out of Chaos or Riftwatcher cards.

This will further reduce their value I feel but beyond that I think all pre-soulbound sets will eventually only have rarety as their value.

Land and Stuffs

This I assume is where Land is intended to resurrect old card values. I have no real thoughts on Guild since I find guild a bit of a nuisance but it probably is best to utilize guild if you can.

Anyway, Land will use the older monsters for certain features and possibly older Monsters and Summoners will be used there and instead of in battle.

From a purely scarcity and collection view these cards have no value. I guess that is true for all collectibles unless they are truly collectible at heart. Like Barbie or Action Figures.

Which puts a lot of pressure on Land to truly facilitate the use of the older cards.

I also bought some DEC-B with DEC I earn from staking on-off and tokens I hold which reward in DEC.

This kinda fluctuates and that is where SPS just passively building up comes in since if need I can now be pleasantly surprised that infact I do have some assets to swing around.

I did sell my Land though and have twice now sold the single land I can afford but never at a loss.

However Splinterlands does not easily "fund itself" and to buy back will take some strategic selling.

Overall it is a bit of win here lose there, get drained from too many releases and then rebuild.

So I will see what comes next but although things may feel a bit like all value is being lost I think if I HODL and keep adding without breaking the bank then it should pay off.

The rewards in bronze and silver are so low, it doesn't make sense to play these leagues.

Yeah I am not sure as a new player what would be the appeal unless you doing it just cause you to feel like it, the volume of games to play is a time suck. The soulbound cards do help if only because they are so strong but I am not sure what is a entry level $ value for someone to be like ok I like the game I will spend X amount. I personally do not think I could afford to go to Silver or Gold as a newb with only say a Hive income. Then again I am not the target market I guess.

Lucky my bronze bot chuggs along and I don't need to care if it earns. The Gold is nice if it does earn but needs work.

However, if a #Splinterlands player doesn't have enough funds to buy their way towards the Gold League, they would have a lot of difficulty trying to ensure that they would get (at least a little) profit from Renting enough Cards to react at least the Gold III League and playing Ranked or Tournament Battles there. 😅 !LUV

I think some lesser known monsters might make it possible. But it still requires investment.

The Common Neutral Monster Gargoya Lion is now the cheapest #Splinterlands Card, where the Common Fire Monster Venari Heatsmith became the second cheapest. 🤔

By spending $4.73, you will get a Level 10 Gargoya Lion which gives an additional 2,100 Collection Power (2,000 base CP + 100 bonus CP for reaching the maximum Level for the Card). 🤓 That technically means that a Splinterlands player can buy their way to the Gold League by just spending about $228 for buying 48 copies of Level 10 Gargoya Lion Cards, which of course is very impractical for winning Battles. 😅

Would it be better to buy him in Gold though? or there are cheaper options? !LOLZ

I can't determine if what you mean with "buy him in Gold" is to buy Gold Foil (max Level) editions of Gargoya Lion instead of the Regular ones, or buy that Card (at max Level) only when the player is in the Gold League. 🤯😅 !LOLZ

The cheapest GF Max Level costs at the moment 10.94 USD. This way you would get for not much more per BCX also a gold foil and then in game bonus for using gold foil instead of regular foil. !LUV
