SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge - Sea Monster!

avatar

This is my participation in the weekly share your battle challenge from @splinterlands. I tried to have some battles involving this week's monster, but I found no low mana battles in which I may use something like Cruel Senthropod. So, instead, I'm sharing a battle involving the monster that showed up the most in my line ups this week: The Sea Monster!

Is there anything to know about this creature?

Edition: REWARD
Rarity: COMMON
Element: WATER
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: Heal, Thorns at level 6

It's big. Bigger than a ship. According to the lore, it could it another monster who ate a ship already.

(That means it is a tank) source: me

Let's talk about numbers

Sea monster is a staple in my water deck. That heal is useful in most scenarios. I usually rent a level 3 Sea Monster to get that extra health point. Sometimes just one more point makes the difference in silver III battles.

BATTLE
This is a silver III battle.

Sea Monster's heal works fine with Poison or Earthquake. This battle has both and I decided to take a gamble with it. My second monster is River Nymph to get rid of the poison and hopefully help the monster last a little bit longer. Xenith Monk (lvl 2) also has Heal, so I chose him as the third unit, as a backup tank. Feasting Seaweed is there as my fourth to maybe kill some enemy support or assassin. Albatross and Ice Pixie are in the back for the flying ability in case the enemy has some Sneak units, but I know they are going to die to the first round of poison.

The enemy went for the Riftwing strategy. This is going to come down to whether any of my tanks out-survives him.

Round two and most of the units died to the combination of poison and earthquake. That 9 health Riftwing is looking pretty scary right now.

image.png

Round four and there are only two contestants remaining. I'm thanking the work the Nymph did before dying and for the extra health point my card gets for being a lvl 3.

A few rounds later, Sea Monster is standing strong. He receives 2 points of damage every round and heals back the same amount, while Riftwing is dying to the poison and that health isn't coming back! First Victory!

Did my strategy work?

Barely, but it ended up working as intended. I had the Xenith Monk as a backup and he ended up dying before he could have the chance to do anything. In hindsight, I should have picked some other ranged unit or even a healer to help Sea Monster.
