Hello everyone! Pozdrav svima!

Today I'm going to share with you result and battles from the latest Brawl of my Tier 4 clan Peakmonsters Pirates, where we placed in 3RD SPOT, just behind the untouchables The Guild of Neoxian and Summoner's Tribe.

As I said in my last brawl report I got promoted from Landlubbers (tier 3) to Pirates (tier 4) guild, and brawls in Tier 4 are a whole new level of gameplay.

Our clan had 88 wins and 69 losses which resulted in 264 points, 9 points ahead of the rest of the field, but 99 points behind the first two, who play league of their own. 😝

For this win the guild has won spoils of 128 Crowns and each fully participating member was awarded 6,095 Merits and 121.449 staked SPS. That is almost 3x more SPS then I got in my last Tier 3 Brawl, really nice upgrade. 😍

Brawl SPS pool for this month is 2,330,164 SPS and it will decrease by 1% after 14/07/2023 to 2,306,862 SPS, as we are currently in 8th distribution month. We can see in the image below how much SPS is distributed per brawl cycle in each Tier.

SPSpool.png

We started with SPS rewards 8 months ago with 2,500,000 SPS in the pool, which decreased by 1% each month and will continue to do so for 65 months. What will happen after that, no one knows (ok, probably someone knows).

This brawl I played in Frey 6 which is limited to Gold level cards with all cards available to play (Wild format). I played pretty decently ending up with a score of 5 wins and 3 losses - not bad considering I usually play only Modern. This placed me in the 7th position among my clanmates, tying the place with a couple of them, which only shows the high standard of play we keep in our clan.

My plan for this post is to go through my battles and try to explain my thought process of picking each team, what I got right or where I went wrong.

1️⃣ Battle 1 of 8 1️⃣

First battle had a low-mid mana pool (28 mana), Silenced Summoners and Keep Your Distance (no melee monsters) rulesets, with all splinters except Life available.

Silenced summoners removes all abilities from summoners so it makes no difference what summoner I pick. In that case I always choose the lowest mana one, or Dragon splinter summoner - in this case Quix the Devious.

No melee monsters meant low threat of Sneak monsters so I decided for a strong tank with lots of healing, since it is pretty low mana match I know opponent can't have very strong damage dealers.

Baakjira is a perfect candidate for such a tank, because it has Heal and Void which will help vs Magic Damage. Behind it come 2 healers and some damage dealers.

What I didn't count for was Lord Arianthus who fully mitigated my damage (which was reduced by enemy debuffs) so it was fatigue that decided the result of this battle. Thankfully I had more healing and health to last longer then my opponent.

2️⃣ Battle 2 of 8 2️⃣

Second battle had again low-mid mana pool (29 mana), Explosive Weaponry (everyone has Blast), Stampede and Aim True (attacks always hit) rulesets, with Water, Earth and Life splinters available.

With Explosive Weaponry the trick is to control the opponents Blast damage, redirect it where you want it to go. One way to do it is with Taunt, since there was no Fire splinter available I was safe from Jacek and his Scatter.

I used Life splinter with General Sloan summoner to boost my ranged guys damage with Shieldbearer as a tank (awesome awesome tank) and Venator Kinjo behind him to block the blast damage. Time Mage was here primarily for he Rust to remove enemy Armor, the Slow was just an added bonus. Pelacor Arbalest as main damage dealer and great support in form of Venary Crystalsmith (for Tank Heal) and Herbalist (for Cleanse). That Cleanse saved me, because he cleansed Poison and Affliction from Dr. Blight.

With such good team composition, the opponent had no chance.

3️⃣ Battle 3 of 8 3️⃣

Third battle had low mana pool (23 mana), Reverse Speed (slower monsters go first) and Up To Eleven (all monsters have Amplify) rulesets with all splinters available except Life.

I went with Dragon splinter and amazing Daria Dragonscale summoner that gives +1 melee damage to my team. Amplify ability goes perfectly with Lord Arianthus and his Magic Reflect and Thorns (on level 3). Behind that amazing tank I put all the Sneak monsters I could find because I though I will be facing something similar in the front.

My opponent went with Immortalis ("the king" of CL summoners) but my tank was too strong for his magic attacks and my "sneak brigade" teared his team apart in matter of few turns.

4️⃣ Battle 4 of 8 4️⃣

Fourth battle had again low mana pool (16 mana), Taking Sides (no Neutral monsters), Melee Mayhem (melee monsters can attack from any position) and Ferocity (everyone have Fury ability) rulesets with all splinters available except Earth.

I tried again with Daria Dragonscale summoner and melee team, expecting my opponent will do something similar. I thought how I was smart to put the Pelacor Conjurer in the front to dodge some melee attacks, but my opponent totally out-smarted me with Alric summoner and magic attack and took out my Pelacor before turn 1 ended.

Everything fell apart for me after that and my opponent deservingly got the win.My attacks were all over the place, instead of focusing fire on one monster...

5️⃣ Battle 5 of 8 5️⃣

In fifth battle we had a mid mana pool (31 mana), Unprotected (no armor for anyone), Taking Sides (no Neutral monsters) and Wands Out (only magic attack monsters available) rulesets, with Fire, Earth and Life splinters available.

Whenever there is magic only battle and Earth splinter available I turn to "the king among summoners" - Immortalis. Quora up front, double Silence from Sporcerer and Goblin Psychic and Djinn Biljka in the back for extra damage and extra chance for Affliction - recipe for success.

My opponent tried with Life splinter, Grandmaster Rathe summoner and amazing magic tank Iziar (the soulbound legendary card), but by double Silence and Void rendered his attacks useless.

6️⃣ Battle 6 of 8 6️⃣

Sixth battle we had low-mid mana pool (30 mana), Up To Eleven (all monsters have Amplify), Explosive Weaponry (everyone has Blast) and Silenced Summoners rulesets, with Fire, Water and Life splinters available.

I went with Water splinter and Kelya summoner (not that it mattered), and this time I focused all my fire to the front (that was a bad idea) with Diemonshark as a tank. Meanwhile, my opponent also went with Water splinter but Alric summoner and Djinn Oshannus as a tank.

This was the only match in this Brawl I didn't know who would win, it could go either way. Unfortunately it was my monsters who did all the missing and failed to kill their Djinn Oshannus in time, and I ended up with the second loss of this Brawl.

7️⃣ Battle 7 of 8 7️⃣

Battle seven had mid-high mana pool (48 mana), Are You not Entertained (we can use additional Gladiator card), Little League (only monsters and summoners that cost 4 or less mana can be used) and Aimless (everyone have Scatter ability) rulesets with Fire, Water, Life and Death splinters available.

I decided to use Death splinter because it is full of great low mana monsters, and used Thaddius Brood summoner with mix and match of all attack types. My opponent had a similar idea, but he had more magic attacks, and since Thaddius reduces magic attack by one he lost a lot of damage there.

What decided the battle was our choice of tanks, my opponent went with Riftwing, not bad idea because it reduces ranged attack, and can dodge attack and Backfire while doing so. I only had 1 ranged attacker so that didn't bother me much. My strength was in my tank Xenith Monk, his Heal and more importantly Void that blocked all of his magic attacks.

Ok, when there is Scattershot in play, there is always some luck involved but I would have to be extremely unlucky to lose this match.

8️⃣ Battle 8 of 8 8️⃣

Eight battle I played against my dear friend @queenstarr and she is an amazing Wild player, so I knew I was not going to have an easy battle. We had low-mid mana pool (27 mana), Target Practice (everyone have Sniper ability), Melee Mayhem (melee monsters can attack from any position) and Ferocity (everyone have Fury ability) rulesets with Water, Life, Death and Dragon splinters available.

I was a bit nervous while picking a team because I knew I would have to be extra smart to beat my opponent. So I went with Water splinter and Djinn Oshannus as a tank (like my opponent did couple matches before when I lost) and Venari Markstrat behind it hoping it would die from Snipe attacks buffing my Djinn Oshannus and Relenor Cleaver (a powerful melee Gladiator monster).

Nothing went the way I planned as @queenstarr lived up to her name and totally outplayed me with her melee team lead by Lorna Shine summoner.

Great strategy from a great player. I didn't feel bad at all losing to her as I knew I stood no chance to begin with.

That loss was my third and final loss of the brawl. And I finished with 5 wins and 3 losses. Not bad result for a Modern player playing in Wild. 😎

Brawl rewards for this cycle were distributed as shown in the image below. Pretty decent rewards, as it would be expected for a Tier 4 Brawl.

By the time I finished with writing up this post, we already started a new Brawl, I hope I will do good as I did in this one.

Thank you all for reading this long post. I hope you enjoyed it. See you next time.

Amazing blog Pero, look how you whooped those other butts. I'm lucky you spared me😉

"I didn't feel bad at all losing to her as I knew I stood no chance to begin with."

Heh you've placed me on such a high pedestal, I better watch it in our next matchup as you'd definitely come at me with wicked cards for revenge😂
