I felt like playing again in the Modern League - SPL Season 187 Report

Dear Splinterlands Community!

In the past few months, my SPL account (@szobipetya) has played only in the Wild League, most of the time driven by XBOT.

When I returned from my holiday at the beginning of July, I didn't want to pay the Wild Pass and the rental fees in the middle of the season. But I didn't want to watch my unused energy balance either, so I started playing a few matches in the Modern League. I really enjoyed it and successfully climbed to the Silver I League:)

I decided that in the next season I will play more in the Modern League. I wanted to get the most out of my energy, so I joined the Wild League too (with XBOT). I configured XBOT not to go under 25 energy, and if I had time, I played in the Modern League in the evenings.

Modern League

Because I recently started working for a new company plus had another holiday, I could only play 135 battles. Most of the time, I used only level 2 and 3 Foundations Archons. This was enough to climb up to the Gold III League:

Wild League

My costs had three parts:

• Wild League Pass (always 2000 DEC)
• Card rental fees (3722 DEC in this season)
• XBOT service fee (1674 DEC in this season)

Total DEC spent: 7396 (~$2.05 while writing this article)

I rented the following cards for the whole season:

• Max-level Lux Vega
• Max-level Helios Matriarch
• All Chaos Legion Core max-level cards
• All Chaos Legion Reward 1 max-level cards
• Max-level Arkemis the Bear
• Max-level Vruz

This is my core card collection, plus I have several watchlist notifications at SplinterTrends (@splintertrends).

With the help of the watchlist, I successfully rented out a few additional special cards at a good price:

• Max-level Doctor Blight (1.361 DEC/day, 9 days)
• Level 3 Ruler of the Seas (3.465 DEC/day, 9 days)

With this setup, my account played 341 battles and finished in Diamond I:

I also obtained some new cards during the season. I have several watchlist items for sale price discounts at SplinterTrends (@splintertrends). With their help, I shot these cards:

Gold Meriput Magician ($0.300)

Warborn Shaman ($1.000)

Gold Doomshield Warden ($0.594)

Gold Ballista Deadshot ($0.212)

And a few minor ones (Forlorn Geomant, 10x Thalgrimore, 5x Marlai Singariel, 8x Aurelia)

My primary focus now is to build max-level Foundation archon cards. I could buy them immediately, but I want to use SplinterTrends to get the best prices.
