Lottery Race? .:. WorkerBee PH-Pool Week 265

I suppose yesterday's post was a good vent-out for me, but it looks like it was a good move to share it with you guys, as I have a feeling it helped some other people too... To realize that they had a similar situation in life, to realize we should sometimes slow down a bit, take a breath, and relax... Listening to our body and mind is probably the most important task! They send us signals BEFORE burning out, BEFORE going into the abyss, and learning to HEAR those signals is crucial...

This could sound a bit selfish, but the main purpose of self-reflection posts is to remind OURSELVES about the priorities, about what is important and what is not... It's not about getting confirmation from others, but more about SHARING confirmation with others... It's very powerful when we realize that we have similar issues, and it's a lot more powerful when we work together on SOLVING them! 💪

Let me reflect a bit on the topic of running through life, as we are mostly doing that... It's nice to run, to be fit to do it, but you easily miss everything around you... Your focus is on the goal, you want to reach it, counting miles until the end... This weekend, when I was walking around Calpe, there was a bicycle race, which made me wonder... That city accepts around 300K tourists during a year, but in winter almost 90% are cyclists, mostly because of the nice weather for practicing...

And then we have a race day... It's nice to win, but there could be ONLY ONE WINNER, and with these professional teams of 4-5 or more racers, they know exactly who of them will be running for the win, and who is there to "help out"... So, why the heck are they racing? 🙂 I found a couple of reasons when I was checking the article on "Why cyclists like to practice in Calpe, Spain?"

I already mentioned one reason, great winter weather! No snow, not too many rainy days (except this year 😀), and beautiful routes to ride a bike! You like the sea, you have it... You like mountains, you have it... Up and down, and all around... It's about everything other than winning and racing... 😃

And then, the same day, but in the evening, I saw the Bruce Almighty movie with Jim Carrey on TV, and the scene about lottery winners...

As he had powers, he made it so that almost EVERYONE WON the lottery! But, you can see on the GIF what happened... People were furious as the reward was so low... That happens when you split the pot among too many tickets... I'm telling you the analogy as it's opposite to the cycling race... When you play the lottery, you are not doing it "to participate", you are doing it for a chance to WIN!

So, what are we doing? Are we chasing a lottery win, or are we enjoying the bicycle ride by the sea in the morning?
