MODERN VS WILD FORMAT - SPLINTERLANDS

Just a quick background on this Play-to-Earn game. Splinterlands is a Strategy-Card-Based NFT Game which is also a game in partnership with Hive. Its somewhat similar with the famous card-game anime Yu-Gi-Oh but with the exception of spell cards. Though this game does not have spell cards, each monster card you play has its own unique skills giving everyone diverse tactics and card combinations to battle with the rest of the players.

For this post we'll be going to discuss about the new Formats for the battles in Splinterlands introducted by the game devs recently. Previously the battles are just in a single format where all types of cards can be played. After the update, you can play in 2 types of gaming format which is WILD and MODERN. Each of which has its own distinct rules and leaderboards for End of Season Rewards

We'll be going deep into each gaming format in the following part of this post.

WILD FORMAT

This gaming format is just the same as the previous one. You can use all cards available that you own/rented/delegated for each battle. Only restrictions will be on the Rules Set for each battle (ex. All Flying Monsters, All Melee, All with Opportunity Skill and etc)

The battle ratings and CP required to reach a certain league are still retained and the same as the previous gaming format. And as I have mentioned earlier, the leaderboards for WILD is separate and distinct from the MODERN Format.

MODERN FORMAT

Now this type of Gaming format is what we could consider as the new format. Reason here is that there are quite significant changes from the original format compared to this. One is that there's certain restrictions as to what type of card can be used in the battles under this gaming format as seen below.

We could also say that Alpha and Beta Cards are taken out of the picture for Modern Format. Though the ratings required to reach each league is the same for Modern and Wild, the CP required for each league is different in the Modern format. Modern format now only requires half of the CP required for each league in Wild Format. Reason for this probably is that Alpha and Beta Cards have far more greater CP compared to the rest of the cards minted after Apha and Beta.

And as I have mentioned as well for Wild format. Modern also has its own set of Leaderboard rankings.

From the discussions we've made from the above for both Modern and Wild format. I've made a table of comparison and provide a quick summary for each Gaming format including its pro's and cons.

NOTE: These are just for my own understanding and opinion. None of these came from any other source. You may or may now agree with me on this.

The notes I've provided above are quite straight forward and easy to understand. Hope this has provided you some clarity as well and would be able to help you choose as to which Gaming Format you wish to grind your ratings to the TOP.
