Ultimate Splinterlands guide for beginners [ENG/FR]

First of all, what is Splinterlands?

Well, it's what's known as a CCG or "Collectible Card Game", and the principle is simple: you collect cards and play with them.

The best-known CCG is Magic: The Gathering, which is the father of this style of game and still the most played to this day in both physical and digital formats.

More recently, this type of game has taken the digital turn very well, allowing two tens of thousands of players to compete in digital arenas.

One example is Hearstone, which is, in my opinion, the greatest success of the genre.

Nevertheless, this kind of game in digital format poses a major problem: what happens to your dearly acquired cards when you stop playing?

The answer is simple and frustrating.

Nothing.

You all lose.

It's in response to this economic aberration that today, taking advantage of the possibilities offered by web3 and technologies such as NFT, Splinterland has appeared!

That's what Splinterlands is: a game above all, with its own mechanics and particularities, but also an investment, and beyond that, an entire ecosystem!

Getting statrted :

Well, I'm not going to lie to you: today, access to Splinterlands is still a bit hard-won. Although a great deal of effort has been made by the game's team in recent times, there are still a few subtleties.

To simplify things for you, I'll outline the steps to follow here.

First of all, create your account:

By clicking on the link above, you'll be redirected to the Splinterlands account creation page. (There's also my affiliate link, which doesn't cost you anything, but supports my work 😀)

You should, after a few clicks, find yourself on this page:

You can then register either with your e-mail address, or directly with a web3 wallet of your choice. (To secure your account, I recommend you turn to HiveKeyChain

Once you've completed this formality, you'll be able to test the game to see whether you like it or not, and if you do, you'll be asked to purchase a Spellbook for $10, which will enable you to start earning game rewards and owning your own cards in the form of NFTs!

Now it's time to take to the arena for your first real battles.

To do so, click on the sword in the spot bar at the top of your screen

In order to come up against opponents that are a match for you, I invite you to choose the "modern" format

Then click on the "Battle" button.

Don't hesitate to play several battles in order to familiarize yourself with the interface.

Strategy Tips for Beginners and Communitys :

I'm not going to go into the details of skills and/or ideal compositions for playing here, as that would be far too long and ultimately unsuitable.

Instead, here are a few tips I wish I'd had when I started the game:

Location is your friend:

It's possible in splinterlands to rent entire decks for a pittance, especially in the bronze and silver leagues.

So don't go into battle unarmed and with a weak team.

Here's a link to a very good Bronze deck that will allow you to start the game with very good cards for only 100 DEC per day! The cost is around $1.5 per season (i.e. 15 days).

Don't be left alone:

At the start of this article, I talked about ecosystems, and not for nothing. Dozens (if not hundreds) of sites, tools and communities revolve around Splinterlands.

To progress quickly and in the best possible conditions, there's nothing like being well surrounded.

My early experience with Splinterlands :

For my part, I was lucky enough to cross paths with @deadzy during my first days in Splinterlands. He had just created the guild that was to become TYC. He guided me through my first steps and even delegated a few cards to make my life easier!

Believe it or not, this card that Deadzy delegated to me was indispensable when I started Splinterlands.

When I started the game, there was no easy way to rent and I didn't take this mechanic very seriously very quickly.

It was finally after a week or so that I took the plunge and started renting, first a few cards and then entire decks!

Soon after I started, Splinterlands exploded in player numbers and, above all, in card prices. To give you an idea, one of the first high-value cards I got is worth around $22 today, compared with $300 at one point!

I don't know if we'll ever see prices like this again, but what I do know is that prices are low right now and a new wind is blowing through cryptocurrencies and web3.

C'est pour répondre à cette aberration économique qu'aujourd'hui, profitant des possibilités offertes par le web3 et des technologies comme les NFT, que Splinterland est apparu !

Par où commencer :

Bon, je ne vais pas vous mentir, aujourd’hui accéder à Splinterlands ça se mérite encore un peu. Bien qu'énormément d’effort, on était fait par l’équipe du jeu ces derniers temps, il y a encore quelques subtilités.

Afin de vous simplifier la vie, je vais indiquer ici les étapes à suivre.

Tout d’abord la création de votre compte :

Vous devriez, après quelques clics, vous trouvez sur cette page :

Vous pourrez alors vous enregistrer soit avec votre adresse mail, soit directement avec un wallet web3 de votre choix. (Pour sécuriser votre compte, je vous conseille de vous tourner vers HiveKeyChain

Une fois cette formalité accomplie, vous pourrez tester le jeu afin de voir s'il vous plait ou non et si c'est le cas, il vous sera demandé d'acquérir un Spellbook pour 10$ qui vous permettra de commencer à gagner des récompenses de jeu et à posséder vos propres cartes sous forme de NFT !

Il est maintenant l'heure de vous rendre dans l'arène pour vos premiers vrais combats.

Pour ce faire, cliquer sur l'épée dans la barre de tache en haut de votre écran

Afin de tomber sur des adversaires à votre mesure, je vous invite à choisir le format "modern"

Puis enfin à cliquer sur le bouton "Battle".

N'hésitez pas à faire plusieurs batailles dans le but de vous familiariser avec l'interface.

Conseil stratégique pour les débutants et commmunautés:

Je ne vais pas aborder ici le détail des compétences et/ou les compositions idéales pour jouer, cela serait beaucoup trop long et finalement peu adapté.

En revanche, voici quelques conseils que j'aurais aimé avoir lorsque j'ai commencé le jeu :

La location est ton ami :

Il est possible dans splinterlands de louer des decks entier pour une somme dérisoire, surtout dans les leagues bronze et silver.

Ne partez donc pas au combat sans arme et avec une équipe faiblarde.

Voici un lien vers un très bon deck Bronze qui vous permettra de commencer le jeu avec de très bonne carte pour 100 DEC par jour seulement ! Le cout est d'environ 1.5$ par saison (soit 15 jours)

Ne restez pas seul :

Au début de cet article, je vous ai parlé d'écosystème et ce n'est pas pour rien. Des dizaines (voir des centaines) de site, d'outil et de communauté gravitent autour de Splinterlands.

Afin de progresser rapidement et dans les meilleures conditions , rien de mieux que d'être bien entouré.

Voici quelques liens utiles :

Mes premiers jours sur Splinterlands:

Pour ma part, j'ai eu la chance de croiser le chemin de @deadzy lors de mes premiers jours sur Splinterlands. Ce dernier venait de créer la guilde qui allait devenir TYC. Il m'a guidée dans mes premiers pas et m'a même délégué quelques cartes pour me faciliter la vie !

Croyez-le ou non, mais cette carte que Deadzy me déléguait était indispensable quand j'ai commencé Splinterlands

Quand j'ai commencé le jeu, il n'existait pas de moyen simple de louer et je n'ai pas pris cette mécanique très au sérieux rapidement.

C'est finalement au bout d'une semaine environ que j'ai sauté le pas et que je me suis mis à louer d'abord quelques cartes puis des decks entier !

Peu de temps après que j'ai commencé, Splinterlands à exploser en nombre de joueurs et surtout en prix des cartes. Pour vous donner une idée, une des premières carte avec beaucoup de valeur que j'ai eu vaut aujourd'hui environ 22$ contre 300$ à un moment donné !

La carte en question

Je ne sais pas si nous reverrons de tel prix un jour, mais ce que je sais en revanche, c'est que les prix sont bas actuellement et qu'un vent nouveau souffle sur les cryptomonnaies et le web3.

Alors si vous n'êtes pas encore joueur de Splinterlands, ne laissez pas passer votre chance et que ce soit pour le jeu ou comme un investissement, entrez dans l'arène !
