I want to join the staking and upvoting but I don't fully understand it. Is there a video I can watch so that I can get the gist of staking and upvoting? Thanks for the support and answers to my questions.

the staking is just powering up your SPT this gives you larger power for upvoting others. There is plenty on youtube, just search how to blog on HIVE as Splintertalk.io is a HIVE front end.
