๐Ÿ˜‚ I Thought I Was Fighting Xulaxโ€ฆ Then Marksrat Got Resurrected!

Greetings, fellow Summoners! ๐Ÿ‘‹

It's another day of Splinterlands Guild Brawl, and this time I want to share an interesting combination that my enemy used in one of my battles to destroyed my lineup.

The main reason this lineup caught my attention was the combination of Astral Entity, Magnificent Mollusk, and Raa and that Marksrat+Gladiator combo. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ’”

At first glance, these cards definitely look like an obvious combination. And once their abilities start working together, they can create a very annoying setup for my line up. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

๐ŸŒŒ The Star of the Lineup โ€” Astral Entity
Astral Entity is a 6-mana Archon with three very useful effects:
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ -2 Armor
๐ŸŒช๏ธ Dodge
๐Ÿ’€ Resurrect

The -2 Armor ability is especially important in this lineup.
Every enemy unit loses 2 Armor, which means their attacks can reach my unit's Health much faster. Against teams that depend heavily on Armor to survive, this can be extremely painful.

Then we have Dodge, which increases the chance of our friendly units evading Melee and Ranged attacks.

And finally, there's Resurrect.
Astral Entity can bring one friendly unit back after it dies.
That last ability can completely change the outcome of a battle.

๐Ÿ’€ The Unexpected Problem โ€” Venari Marksrat + Resurrect

There was another interaction in this battle that made things much more difficult for my lineup.
The opponent had Venari Marksrat positioned next to their Gladiator, Xulax Nightwind.

At first, Marksrat might not look like the biggest threat. But its Martyr ability can become extremely dangerous when combined with Astral Entity's Resurrect.

When Venari Marksrat dies, Martyr gives a stat boost to adjacent friendly units.
And because Astral Entity has Resurrect, Marksrat gets another chance to trigger that ability after being brought back to life.

This created a nasty chain reaction.
๐Ÿ’€ Marksrat dies โ†’ Martyr activates โ†’ Xulax gets stronger
Then:
๐ŸŒŒ Astral Entity resurrects Marksrat โ†’ Marksrat dies again โ†’ Martyr activates again
So instead of Marksrat simply being a sacrificial unit, it effectively became a stat-boosting engine for Xulax Nightwind.

And honestly, Xulax was already a big problem for my lineup. ๐Ÿ˜…

Every additional boost made the Gladiator harder to deal with, while its own abilities allowed it to continue putting pressure on my units.

In this particular battle, Astral Entity's Resurrect was also helping the opponent get additional value from their Venari Marksrat.
That made the battle much more complicated than simply dealing with their main damage dealers.

๐Ÿง  A Lesson From This Interaction

This is something I really enjoy about Splinterlands.
An ability like Resurrect can completely change the value of another card's ability.
Venari Marksrat by itself is already useful as a sacrifice unit, but when it gets resurrected and sacrificed again, its Martyr effect can provide another boost to an adjacent Gladiator.

And with Xulax Nightwind being the recipient, that extra boost can become a serious headache. ๐Ÿ˜‚
So in this battle, I wasn't only fighting the opponent's main lineupโ€”I also had to deal with the Marksrat โ†’ Resurrect โ†’ Martyr โ†’ Xulax interaction. ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜…

1000118760.jpg

๐Ÿ™ Magnificent Mollusk โ€” The Frontline Threat

The first important unit in this combination is Magnificent Mollusk.
With its 13 mana cost, Mollusk is certainly not a cheap unit. But when you have enough mana available, it can provide a very strong frontline presence.

In the battle shown above, Mollusk had:
โš”๏ธ 6 Range Attack
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ 2 Armor
โค๏ธ 6 Health
๐Ÿ’จ 2 Speed

The important thing here is that Mollusk can put serious pressure on the enemy frontline.
And this is where Astral Entity becomes very interesting.
Because the enemy starts with -2 Armor, Mollusk's attacks become much more threatening.
Instead of slowly removing Armor before dealing meaningful damage, the opponent's Health is exposed much earlier. Especially with an active ruleset "Anemic" which causes all units to have only 4 HP.

๐Ÿฆ… Raa โ€” The Damage Dealer

Then we have Raa.
Raa is another high-mana unit, costing 12 mana, but it brings a very interesting combination of abilities:
๐Ÿชฝ Flying
โšก Double Strike
๐ŸŽฏ Scattershot

The ability that really stands out to me is Double Strike.
Raa attacks twice each turn, giving it the potential to deal a huge amount of damage over the course of a battle.

Then there is Scattershot, which makes its Magic and Ranged attacks target random enemy units.
Normally, Scattershot can sometimes feel unreliable because you don't control the target.
But when combined with Astral Entity's -2 Armor, even those random attacks can become dangerous.
Instead of wasting attacks against a large amount of Armor, Raa can immediately start hitting exposed Health.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Why Astral Entity Works So Well With These Two
This is the part I really like about the combination.

The three cards have different roles:
Card
Main Role
๐ŸŒŒ Astral Entity
Support / Debuff

๐Ÿ™ Magnificent Mollusk
Frontline Damage

๐Ÿฆ… Raa
Heavy Damage Dealer

Astral Entity doesn't necessarily need to be the biggest damage dealer.
Instead, it makes the rest of the team more effective.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ -2 Armor + High Damage
This is probably the biggest synergy.
Both Mollusk and Raa can take advantage of the enemy's reduced Armor.
When your opponent's Armor is already reduced by 2, every successful attack becomes much more valuable.

๐ŸŒช๏ธ Dodge + Flying
Astral Entity also gives the friendly team increased chances of dodging Melee and Ranged attacks.
Raa already has Flying, giving it an additional layer of survivability against physical attacks.
So while Raa is dealing damage from the back, the opponent isn't guaranteed to hit it.

๐Ÿ’€ Resurrect
And then there's the wild card:
Resurrect.
Imagine one of your important units finally goes down, only for Astral Entity to bring it back.
That means the opponent potentially has to deal with that unit twice.
In a long battle, that extra life can be the difference between winning and losing.

โš”๏ธ The Battle

In this particular brawl battle, the opponent brought a lineup featuring Raa and several other strong units.
What made the matchup interesting was the presence of Astral Entity on their side.
The -2 Armor immediately changed the way the battle played out.
The opponent's units couldn't rely on their Armor to absorb the incoming damage, while the combination of strong attacks and support abilities created constant pressure.
And with Raa attacking twice per round, there was always a chance for a big swing in damage.

๐Ÿง  My Take on the Combination

What I like about Astral Entity + Magnificent Mollusk + Raa is that it isn't simply about stacking the strongest cards together.
It's about making their abilities complement each other.

Astral Entity weakens the enemy.
Magnificent Mollusk provides a strong physical threat.

Raa brings heavy ranged damage with Double Strike.
And Resurrect gives the team another chance to keep one of those important units alive.
It's definitely an expensive combination in terms of mana, so it won't fit every ruleset.
But when the mana cap is high enough, this is a combination I would definitely consider for Guild Brawls.

๐Ÿ† Final Thoughts
What made this battle particularly interesting for me was seeing how Astral Entity's Resurrect could create value in unexpected ways. The opponent's Venari Marksrat was able to come back and trigger Martyr again, giving their Xulax Nightwind another boost and making an already dangerous Gladiator even harder to handle.
That's one of the things I love about Splinterlandsโ€”sometimes the most important interaction isn't between the strongest cards, but between abilities that create a chain reaction. ๐Ÿ”ฅ
It's a combination worth experimenting with, especially in high-mana Brawl battles.
Sometimes the best strategy isn't simply finding the strongest card.
It's finding combination of cards that make each other stronger. โš”๏ธ๐ŸŒŒ

Until the next brawl, fellow Summoners! Good luck and have fun! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ”ฅ
