To make money playing Splinterlands, you'll need the Summoner's Spellbook. This can be purchased in-game for $10. But in most cases, you will have earned this in your first season (2weeks) to get break-even.
You do need to understand that the rewards in this game scale. The league you're in, the number of cards you own, and the amount of DEC you have determines most of your income.
