Winning My First Glint Token - Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

Hello everybody in the hive community and to all gamers of hive. This is my entry to the splinterlands social media challenge for this week.

In my entry for this week, I will be talking about earning my first Glint token. The glint token is a new in game token or currency introduced into the game since the 2nd of April, 2024. This token replaces the chests that were won at the end of the season.

I did not know much about the introduction of the new token but after the update that was added when the last playing season ended, I read up on the changes that were added to splinterlands.

The glint token as I understand will be won in battles. The winning of focus points is no longer possible and instead, only the glint and sps can be won now. The glint token will be used to buy rewards from the reward shop that has been added to the game after the update. Among rewards you can buy is merits, legendary potions, alchemy potions, energy and limited edition tiles. More rewards will be added in the future.

After reading about the updates I then played a battle to see how much glint I would win. Luckily for me I did not have to wait long to win my first glint since one of the first battle I played resulted in a win.

I played the battle selecting the Keylor summoner of the water element which gave all my cards +1 shield and +1 speed. I played with 2 rulesets in mind which were the magic reflect and keep your distance. Choosing cards to play with was quite tough since choosing magic cards were not advisable and I could not choose melee cards. The danger with choosing ranged cards is their inability to attack in the first positions.

I chose a mix of magic cards and ranged cards consisting of 2 magic cards (Djinn Oshanus and Riverboat Captain), 2 ranged cards (Swamp Spitter and Xenith Archer). I also selected one healer (Merdaali Guardian) to help out.

Swamp Spitter managed to be very helpful in the battle since my opponent brought ranged cards. The shield kept getting restored which helped to prevent some attacks. Merdaali Guardian was another card that managed to help me in battle healing my first card over and over again.

I managed to defeat my opponent losing only 1 of my cards (Riverboat Captain). After this victory, I won 8 glint token as my first ever glint token received after the updates. I hope to win more battles and earn more so I can buy my first rewards from the reward shop.
