That may be a Turtle but it ain't no Ninja [Weekly Challenge]

Summoner

This summoner synergizes best with this week's spikey boi as with the additional +1 armor our frontline tank can dish out and receive more damage and the additional speed is just a generally good thing for any team to have. I had to rent out a level 3 so that my turtle can get that much-needed thorns ability.

Build-Around Units

The VIP of the week, one of the better lower-cost frontliners when you pair it with its level 4 ability Thorns making it essentially does 3 damage to the enemy frontline and more if attacked by other melee units per turn.

Synergizes well with the turtle for the exact same reason with our summoner Keyla giving out additional armor to not only him but the entire team as well. The 2nd to the last position is the best place to put the unit as you don't really want it to tank sneak damage.

This alchemist may seem quite unassuming but lowering the enemy frontliner's attack essentially gives your Turtle more health to receive more damage from the enemy team and make its ability stack more per turn.

Modifiers

With the elements presented to me, I thought this is the best time to run the Spineback Comp as these three elements Fire, Life, and Water have a repertoire on melee and ranged and I hedged my bets on it being on the former. My opponent ran a Ranged focus build with the Kraken as the fronliner and Axemaster as the main damage dealer which didn't really fit well with my strategy.

In the end, I came out victorious due to the additional speed and armor buffs making our units hit faster and receive more damage in the end while the alchemist turn that Kraken into a Guppy with only dealing half damage a turn.

Final Thoughts

If you are playing in the lower ranks a Kelp Initiate is a much better lower-cost frontline even if it doesn't attack but it being a 2 mana unit you can invest more into your backline to be more deadly.

With the Spineback Turtle, it doesn't really contribute much to your team from levels 1-3 with only a higher health and armor stat. It really only shines when it gets its level 4 power spike so you have to get a higher level summoner to match that with.
