DEC Farming Tip: Use the 1:3 Method!

With the cost of rent going higher as we get closer to the end of season, we need to find more efficient ways to farm DEC.

My Old Farming Method

In the 500 DEC Challenge, I rented power enough to climb the ranks and farmed in the Silver 1 league. I used to play until 80 ECR after renting, then once the 16 hrs of renting is up, I'd go back and grind that last few hours until 50 ECR. This was perfect for farming at that time because it gave the highest rate of return, with a comfortable amount of earning.

With the new update of cubing instead of squaring in the DEC Rewards formula, this method isn't an efficient way to spend my day. So after discussing with a few friends of mine, we realized that the 1:3 Method gets you the most bank for your buck.

What's the 1:3 Method?

Simply put, it means Rent for 1 day, Rest for 3 days.

Basically, with the new changes you have to rent higher levelled cards to compete at a higher league. This brings your costs for renting to even higher. What used to be around 1.5k DEC Rent can now go as high as 4k DEC rent for just the Gold 2 to Diamond 3 level. So in order to ensure that you get your money back, you have to get as much as you can for just 1 day's worth of rent. Normally you should have quite a profit by the time your ECR is at 25%, so after 3 days you can repeat the process again.

Step 1: Plan your strategy

You will need to rent the cards that will help you win the most fights. You're not trying to win everything, but anything above 50% win rate should be good enough. You will probably get your money back by around 50-60% ECR. Find out which strategies best fit the league you're currently in. Some splinters don't shine until they have all their abilities. Thus you have to make sure to check if they have access to it in the lower leagues! Once you have what you need, go start renting!

Step 2: Rent

Find the best deals on the market. You can use the auto bid rental system in @peakmonsters to help snipe those cheap deals. Some times I would just put in all my orders then a few hours later, I get everything for the price I'm willing to pay for, sometimes even cheaper. Once you rented enough, onwards to the battlefield!

Step 3: Fight

Fight until you can't fight no more! I was in Gold 2 the other day and managed to earn more than 1.5k DEC. This was my first time earning that much from rented sets. I rented two different splinters, and 4 different summoners. The trick here was to always have an answer to most situations. Some fights can be carried by levelled up Neutral Monsters.

Rough Estimation of Cost to Rent

I wrote an article 2 days ago about Farming DEC in Lower Leagues. Since then, the costs to rent have been spiking up. People are getting more and more competitive, which is great for card holders, but it's a bit annoying for us renters. But based on my knowledge, the current DEC requirement to be in Diamond league is around 4k-7k DEC. With the price being what it is, you'd best get your money's worth!

Try the 1:3 Method today. You won't regret it!

Wow, never thought of DEC prices beside my league (Silver III at the moment) and I'm too chickenhearted to actually try and experiment with higher leagues and renting expensive cards, but it was a fascinating read. Thanks for your insight.

Think of it as an investment! Slowly climb and get used to it. Max Silver monsters can actually compete in gold 3.

Very good article.
So you compete up to 25 ERC?
Do you recommend something for silver 1 or 2?
