Should I Buy Packs Myself or Pool with the Megawhales? [Chaos Legion Edition]

I've been asked this question quite a lot and decided to sit down and write my thoughts on this. Let's discuss the benefits of each assuming you have a budget to buy 50 packs.
Buying Packs by Yourself

Buying from the Megawhales

Based on the Airdrop alone, it is better to buy it yourself. You can even afford to buy the packs up to 5.56 USD and still have the airdrop pay for it (at no cost to you). Note that SPS is even poised to go beyond 1 USD in the future, so the value of the airdrop is even greater.
However, if you do plan to go with the whales, I recommend you go for someone with a plan for all the packs that will impact the game.
