Genesis League Goals - Town Hall Afterthoughts

The GLG Town Hall was held yesterday. They informed us about some important things, mainly regarding the gameplay. If you missed it, you can watch it here:

In general, it was good to meet and see the developers, since it was my first time joining such a stream.
It was unfortunate that card combining was brought up quite soon. Mainly the mentioned maximum numbers diverted the main direction for a short time. I won't repeat it, if you are interested in the game, watch the whole thing. Otherwise I don't want to touch this part, it will be as it will be.
I am writing this post mainly about the gameplay, because of its parts that are different from the whitepaper. I'm curious about other people's opinions.
It was nice to see what a match would look like. Also, getting to know how the gameplay will work. To me, it is a clear reason to re-evaluate NFT player cards, as it has become clear that certain stats in certain positions will be almost completely irrelevant.

Unfortunately, there was no mention of the coach cards at all, I forgot to ask about them. But it would be nice to know which one will have what effect on the team, especially considering that these are the rarest cards.
It was also not discussed whether the players can be placed in different positions when the team is assembled. The usefulness, importance, and demonstration of the substitutions in practice were also lacking. It would have been nice to see a full match played.
As you might expect, when you create a team, you can name the team.
The 2 main reasons why I am writing:
1., The training (staking) cards described in the whitepaper will not exist at all!!! Personally, I counted on this. Huge disappointment!!!

2., The rewards, especially the tournaments, cups rewards. And generally the competition between players. I'll write about it more.


It looks like they want to completely leave this out of the game and instead give the rewards to the stadium owners (understand: the only important thing is to spend as much as possible on the game). It definitely won't be there from the beginning, as Aggroed said, it is an additional thing... really no comment, tournaments (leagues) call it however you want, and cups are additional in a football manager game, not basics... :) good to know!
In addition, they stated that they want to create a healthy competitive situation, to divide the rewards so that not only the teams and players made up of the best and most expensive cards benefit from the reward pool.
This was the point that really pissed me off. Football is a team sport, not an individual one. As in all team sports, a limited number of matches can be played within a season, so different level tournaments and cups are created for teams of different levels and strengths.
Putting this down to GLG, most cards will be completely worthless in a very short period of time without levelled and prized tournaments and cups, as you can't win anything with those, no matches, no tournaments, cups for a given strenght of teams.
Just to give the oldest, biggest online (fantasy) football manager game as an example (but almost all of them work this way), Hattrick has been working this way since the beginning. Small tournaments (leagues), relegation, promotion, higher leagues, higher prizes, but prizes everywhere for participating and playing at your level.
In general, what will be the point of playing the game without tournaments, cups and titles?
It looks like to me someone doesn't get the football at all. I also don't want to touch the 1-1.5 months delay for release, in the middle of the summer all around Europe!!! Great timing!
