GL Goals: 3rd Beta League and Cup Results

(Edited)

The 3rd Beta tournament ended almost 1 week ago, with the following results. Registration for the next one (Hunters League) is already possible, for even more and higher prizes.

The rules were simple. (It is in this post.) Everyone plays all their matches with the same team they registered with. (Coach + starting7 + 5 subs) The use of reserves was optional. Some took advantage of this, some didn't. (The use of reserves is no longer possible in the next Beta competition.)

@drzoom already wrote a good post about the 3rd Beta tournament earlier, and even recorded the cup final, it can be viewed on YouTube. (Match 1 , Match 2)

Some players' teams:

@deerambo

@knotenbart

@splinterbin

I put this team together. Despite the fact that I also put the reserves in the team, I did not use them at all.

This time, fewer players participated than in the previous one, so the league competition took place in 1 group. With a total of 10 participants.

This time, the prizes did not consist of GF cards, but packs could be won for the first 3 places and for the finalists in the cup. In addition, of course, the GLX prize was awarded again for the points earned.

@knotenbart offered the 3 packs for the first place in the league competition. Thank you for that!

League

The results in a table and the final rankings:

The results marked in red are established results, according to the rules. These 4 matches were not played.

There was no doubt about @deerambo's victory. He won the league with a huge advantage and without defeat. The +37 goal difference also speaks for itself.

For me, the biggest positive was that I was able to catch a point against @deerambo, I scored a total of 4 goals against him in the 2 matches together.

In addition, it was also good to see that even with a weaker team, I suffered only a few big defeats and was able to win a third of the matches. Personally, I will also use the team I have setup in the p2e game mode.

@padanspascut66's second place was also quite convincing. (I would like to note here that I was able to win against him once!😉)

At the end of the field, @globalwarming finished, but the other 7 players were in close competition, the almost usual 'beat-around' took place again, from which @sorryismurf came out the best, he finished in 3rd place.

Cup

It was not easy to organize the cup with 10 players. (The last time there was no need to think about the arrangement with 16 players.)

In order to play more matches and reduce the number of participants to a power of 2, the participants were first divided into 2 groups of five. The first 4 places advanced to the knockout stage.

Group results and final rankings:

Here I managed to suffer my biggest defeat so far. 1-6

It is interesting that @sorryismurf, ranked 3rd in the League, was eliminated in group B.

Knock-out phase results:

Since Group A was won by @deerambo, I didn't expect anyting good in the quarter final. The result speaks for itself. After playing close matches against him in the League, it was clear who was better here.

To a small surprise, @drzoom and @salomfishbee played the final.

@salomfishbee came from behind to win the cup. He became the winner after playing 3 close duels.

Overall, the cup was much more interesting for me. There were many surprising results, which is why this way of playing is good.

Thanks to everyone for participating! Congratulations to the winners!

Opinion based on previous experience

This was already the 3rd tournament we played during the Beta, so some things are now more clearly outlined.

First of all, in my opinion the current form of the game should be about 20-25% of the full version. Therefore, further developments can partially or completely change the following.

Coaches. Right now, choosing the right coach is very important. Since dynamic stats are currently not live, general boost coaches are much more effective. The stamina and morale coaches are especially a plus.

Personally, I think they are overworking.

In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the dev team stopped further balancing after increasing steps from 30 to 40. The steps increasing was done so that the substitutions get more functions. They are used more often and by more people.

It seems that these coaches are not set up properly for 40 steps mode.

An example: without using strikers at all, with a coach that does not add to stamina (e.g. Erik Eriksen), stamina drops to 75-80% at halftime. (I've only looked at this against coaches that also don't affect the opponent's stamina.)

However, using the Genepool coach, for example, this value is above 90% in halftime. So, in general, in 1 match, 25% more stamina remains for each player!!! This is a huge advantage over a coach that only improves one specific move, usually by 10-15%.

Currently, there are several of these in the game, so very few coaches can be considered if someone really wants to be effective in the current field. A maximum of 6-8 coaches can be considered.

I wanted to highlight this one, primarily for the sake of those who want to join the next competition. Don't catch them off guard.

I assume that this will be fixed after the ranked rewards update, it will be leveled. The development team has mentioned several times that they want to return to balancing after the game is live.

Thanks for reading! Good luck in the next one!
