The new Splinterlands update is amazing and exciting! I'm especially thrilled to try out the new monsters and summoners. It's a bit confusing at first, since I'm used to playing with the Water splinter, Deep Lurker, and some of the older Water monsters. I was also familiar with most of the older summoners. But even with the changes, I'm really excited for this fresh experience.

In my recent battle, I chose Avina of the Wolf as my summoner because it offers two abilities to grant to allied monsters. At first, I thought both would be added automatically, but I realized I had to choose one. I picked the +2 speed boost for all my allies. The battle went well, but I ended up losing mainly due to my opponent’s tank: Ulundin Overseer, which had 12 health, 5 melee attack, and although it only had 1 speed, it became extremely dangerous when it finally attacked.

My team included:

  • Grimbardun Fighter: 6 health, 2 speed, 1 melee attack
  • Skyspire Yak: 4 health, 2 speed, 1 melee attack
  • Skyspire Leopard: 5 health, 2 speed, 3 melee attack
  • Silverblade Fighter: another melee card
  • Luceheim Demon: a ranged attacker with Snipe, 3 ranged attack, 5 health, 1 armor, 1 speed
  • Tokatag Conscript: with Sneak and Thorns, 2 health, 3 speed, 1 ranged attack

Unfortunately, my team wasn’t strong enough under the Standard battle rule. My opponent’s strategy relied on high-health, high-attack monsters with strong abilities, which gave them the upper hand. Going forward, I’ll need to review my deck more carefully and come up with a better strategy to adapt to these new changes.
