Splinterlands Battle Challenge - GARGOYA SCRAPPER

avatar

It's time for another Splinterlands Battle Challenge. Join me on today's battle using our featured card of the week from the Life Splinter: Gargoya Scrapper!!!

Challenge Rules

THEME: GARGOYA SCRAPPER

Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: COMMON
Element: LIFE
Attack: MELEE
Abilities:Void at level 3

Battle Ruleset

Mana Limit: 30

Standard: No modification to the standard gameplay rules and mechanics.

Lineup Strategy

Summoner:
General Sloan

We're going to use a Ranged attack team so this Summoner's buff will add more attack power to our team.

Tank:
Shieldbearer

This is my favorite tank monster in the Life Splinter. Aside from its high Health and Armor, it also has the Taunt ability that forces enemy monsters to attack it if able. This ability will also protect our team from Sneak and Snipe abilities.

Gargoya Scrapper

Our featured card for this week will be our backup tank. Just in case our tank monster bites the dust before the last round, this monster will protect our team from frontal attacks for at least one turn. This can buy our team one round to cleanup the remaining enemy monsters.

Venari Crystalsmith

Aside from being one of our Ranged damage dealers, this monster also has the Tank Healer ability that will keep our tank's Health in check and hopefully keep it alive for a few more rounds.

Pelacor Arbalest

Also one of our Ranged damage dealers that also has the Double Strike ability. This ability will be our advantage in this matchup that can instantly kill monsters with an average amount of Health.

Portal Spinner

Another Ranged attack monster in our lineup. Its Scattershot ability that targets enemy monsters randomly will be useful against the Taunt ability if our opponent decides to use one.

Celestial Harpy

Last but not the least is this monster. Its Opportunity ability will be useful against low Health monsters not in the 1st position. It also has the Flying ability that can dodge Melee and Range attacks from non-flying enemy monsters. This ability will also be useful against enemy monsters with the Sneak ability as its sitting at the last position in our lineup.

Our opponent decided to use a lineup of Magic attack monsters which is further enhanced by the chosen Summoner. Portal Spinner eliminated an enemy monster randomly using its Scattershot ability in Round 1.

Pelacor Arbalest eliminated two enemy monsters using its Double Strike ability in Round 2. Venari Crystalsmith was also able to eliminate an enemy monster in this round. Unfortunately, we also lost both our tank monster and our featured card Gargoya Scrapper before this round ended.

Pelacor Arbalest was able to eliminate another enemy monster in Round 3. We only have one enemy monster left on the battlefield but its Flying ability will be a challenge for our team since it can dodge attacks.

After a few more rounds, Celestial Harpy was able to take out the remaining enemy monster giving our team a big win in this fight.

Conclusion

Although our featured card Gargoya Scrapper died immediately after our tank monster bit the dust, it was able to prevent one attack from reaching our Tank Healer Venari Crystalsmith giving it an extra turn to heal itself on the following round.
Pelacor Arbalest was our star player in this battle since it was able to deal a lot of damage using its Double Strike ability.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Our plan of using Shieldbearer to protect our team from attacks and using our featured card Gargoya Scrapper as backup tank failed short as they died too early since our opponent had the upperhand using Magic attack that ignores armor. However, Pelacor Arbalest stepped up and threw a lot of damage to enemy monsters carrying our team to victory.

Do you like GARGOYA SCRAPPER? Why or why not?

I usually use Gargoya Scrapper as a blocker for Sneak attacks (attacks at the back) if I have some extra mana to spend. 1 mana for a 2 Health blocker is quite a good trade.

And that's all the time have for today folks. See you again next week for another Battle Challenge here at Splinterlands. Cheers!!!

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Heartstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using a blockchain technology, players can buy, sell and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
